if I have the number 11,000,000 for example in a cell, is there any way I can get the cell to recognize it as just 11?

so basically I have a range of data
11,000,000
11,500,000
10,000,000
12,100,000

and I want the cells just to show 11, 11.5, 10, 12.1

any way of doing this??

divide by 1,000,000 will leave you with 11 etc

Type the numbers in that way first.

I have not found a way to do what you ask.

You can make the cells next to the numbers display as you want by simply dividing the first cell by 1,000,000

You could then hide the first column of numbers so your spreadsheet would look like you want - you would just have extra columns in it.

No I don't believe this can be done. Under Format, Cell...it gives lots of options, and even an option to customize, but none work to just minimize those number.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish...but perhaps you can just insert those numbers and use the working (In Millions) on the top of your spreadsheet.

Sorry wasn't much help...but it sure did make my brain start to wonder.

Good Luck...hope there is someone out there that figured this one out.

You could create a new column with the number divided by a million. But nothing I know of in custom formats will work.

You type in the numbers from A1 to A4, let us say.
In cell B1, type =A1/1000000.
Format B1 to be 'number' with 1 decimal place.
Now B1 will return 11.0.

Now drag the fill-handle from B1 to B4. The other numbers will be displayed with 1 decimal precision, as per your requirement.

Hope this helps!

Yes, you can do this by formatting:

Format - Cells - Number tab
Category: Custom
Type: 0.0,,

The two commas will hide the two sets of 0s.

I hope this helps. Add detail, or e-mail, if you need more info.
