My husband plays not only French horn but Wagner Tuba, which is a related instrument. He's celebrating his 25th anniversary this year with his orchestra. If you read "The Horn Call" go back to 2001, and catch up on his 7 part series about Wagner Tuben. It's going to be re-released in book form later this fall.
also, for a good horn method, look up Dr. Michael Hoeltzel's French Horn school. Volumes 1 and 2 are still being translated, but Volume 3 is already out in English.

The French Horn is cool but i ended up playing Tuba :) . Brass Instruments need air they're not like Woodwinds you blow and get a sound . You have to have wind to play instruments like Euphoniums/ Baritones and Tubas and French Horns .

Oh, yes. There is nothing else that sounds like it - it can evoke such a range of responses in the listener. I just love the way it sounds. I play the flute, but love the french horn. Beautiful.

i love the french horn. i wanted to play it but my band director wouldnt let me. it is such a beautiful sounding instrument that is so erotic and almost orgasmic when played right. and guys that play french horn are most of the time sexy. dont ever change instruments.

I used to play. The suckiest thing about it is having to dump out the spit. And trying to remember 1 2 or 3 for the notes. In band class I used to just pretend I was playing the notes because I couldn't play them fast enough. LOL!
