All the pay grades are the same. It may be easier to make a pay grade in the Navy than the Air Force. Because there are a lot more opportunities in the Navy. The Air Force is limited in job opportunities.
As far as which one is better ? I guess that depends on the person. They all have the same benefits, schools, places to go. The Navy if you are transferred to a ship you will be out to sea a lot so that is the down side for some, some like the sea. You can make a carrier out of both. The Navy seems to be easier to make pay rate increases.
No matter what branch you have to love it to stay in.
Sincerely yours,
Fred M. Hunter

The basic pay is the same. Now here come the differences. Do you like the ocean? Because you can go out to sea 6 to 9 months a year. You probably get sea pay. Now what is the newest military service out there? The Air Force became a separate service in 1947. The navy has been around for over 200 years. Which service do you think has better facilities? The Air Force. Oh by the way, you can not dig a foxhole in a steel deck. I would go back in the Air Force tomorrow if I was 19 again.

An E1 is a E1 no matter what branch you join. The same hold true for any Enlisted pay grade. Next you ask which is better to join and that completely depends on what you want. I have been in the Air Force for over 9 years. I have served with all branches and each offers a different experience in life. The Air Force has treated me good so far and that is all I can say. The navy is good so best of luck choosing.

I have served in neither, but I did spend two years in Saudi Arabia, participating in a technical training program with retired and former military from all the services, and the following appeared to be the case:
"Join the Navy and see the world" is not far from the truth, but the Air Force are the armed forces elite, with the best quarters, best food and best working conditions.
As far as pay goes, that is governed by publically available pay grades, so you can probably find this out on your own.

It depends on your rating. I was in the Navy, enjoyed the time seeing Japan, Canada, and California, but if I had to do it again knowing what I do, I'd go into the Air Force. In the Navy you might end up with shore duty, or aboard ships for the whole time in the Navy. The Air Force can send you anywhere in the world to service your time. Your question as to which is better, it all depends on you and what you are looking for, you're not going to get rich fast in the military service.

Across the branches, the pay rate is the same for each pay grade and time-in-service.
However, what alters the amount people are paid is the bonuses. Stuff like sea duty and combat duty bring in bonuses on each pay check. So does stuff like BAS and BAH if you live off-base (but that is also pretty much universal across the branches).
As for the best to join...if you're single, I'd suggest the Navy. In a bit over four years of Active Duty, I visited 13 different countries...and got paid for doing it.

If you have the aptitude, the best way is to go nuclear in the Navy. E-3 in boot, automatic E-4 upon completion of "
A" school, you can re-enlist for E-5 after being for only two years. Plus when you are at a sea command you get sea pay, as a Nuke you also get "pro pay", and if your in a combat zone you will also get combat pay. You can only get living allowances if the service has nowhere to house and feed you. Otherwise forget about housing and food allowances.

If I had to pick, I would go Air Force.
Now since I'm Army, I'll honestly tell you that that's the best one if you want to make more money in. In two years, you hit the E-4 pay grade, and if your cards are played right, you can be a sergeant in under three years. If you're looking at being an officer, you'll most likely be a first lieutenant in eighteen months and a captain in 3 years.

I'm not really sure. But i served in the army 8 years and everybody is paid basically the same according to your rank. I did make more money than my counterparts when i was tdy (temporary duty). You get paid a per diem a day depending on where u were staying. If you are in a hostile environment you get paid more...also family separation if you are married. But if you don't go anywhere you get paid the same as the next airman or seaman or soldier.
