The ability to think and question the existence of God is the true original sin?

If there is such a thing as "sin", rather than merely mistakes, or behaving inappropriately, I think it exists like the others simply because we don't think. Not to use the ability to think, and question EVERYTHING is the first sin if such there be, surely. Otherwise what is our brain for? So isn't it paradoxical that God prohibited eating from the tree of knowledge? Sounds somewhat paranoid and self-centered to me. Not merely "thou shalt have no gods but me" but "thou shalt have no knowledge of anything but me!" Possessive? Certainly not what you'd call good parenting. That's why I left Eden. And found a wonderful world.

Yes, but you must understand why. Doubt, among other things, exists because of original sin. That sin being the disobedience toward God. That disobedience cut us off from His divine presence.

We say it is in human nature to question and explore. But that is also a gift from God. He gave us a choice. The choice to choose to believe or choose not to. But because of that sin, we also have the choice to follow sin.

It is not a sin to think. It is not a sin to question. But it is a sin to think about questioning God. If you are not a believer, that just means that you have not been receptive to Him speaking to your soul although we can all hear Him.

No, it is not the original sin. Free will is the pre-existing condition God gave to man. Man's decision to engage in prohibited activity is the sin. The decision and the action that decision spawned are the sin. We've been trying to think our way out ever since.

No, I believe the true original sin was when
Eve gathered up the fruit from the 'tree of the knowledge of good and evil' and she and Adam ate from that tree and were cursed because of it. It can be found in
the Holy Bible found in the book of
Genesis. chapter 2 verse 17:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

If you can question the existence of God, you can dismiss the silly concept of sin too. Problem solved.

I'm afraid to say no but base on the bible we shouldn't think or do things that is a sin. It's impossible to not think of making out with Jessica Alba or any other celebrity but I guess is better to commit a sin by thinking then commit a sin by doing it.

I'd like to see someone try and stop us from this so-called 'sin'... Sinners because we think? Now that's crazy talk!

Umm. No it isn't. Wanting to be God is the true original sin.

Yes u r right we are product of our thoughts.

Sins are bad acts. So how can we discriminate Good or Bad act.

Example act called Murder.

Murder done in normal case hanged or chair or jailed for life.
Murder is done in wars to and the more people killed he is claimed as hero.

So in life there are only actions. Good or Bad is at the moment of life.
