I am a tax paying individual I have to obey all laws, shouldn't local Mayors, Chief of Police. I cannot disobey any law who gave them the right to flaunt disobeyance. Do we vote them out of office. Since the Federal Government at this time will do nothing, what are our options.

They are not all picking lettuce....some are raping, driving intoxicated, shooting execution style, college kids and taking up 25pct of the beds in federal prison. I wonder the percentage of state prisons.

I belive in 1988 States were given the legal right to actually enforce immigration laws. Lets face it..when the Federal Governments wants a law enforced...they threatened highway funds.. i.e. remember the 55MPH...
The answer is the Feds do not want the law enforced.

ANOTHER STATISIC. MORE AMERICANS DIE EACH YEAR FROM ILLEGALS THAN HAVE DIED IN IRAQ. FACT...Do the reseach..each state....
Of course if they don't ask how can they know who is legal who is not.
Facts don't sugar coat it.

States are not ignoring federal laws in the case of immigration. Also, your figures regarding illegal immigrants in prisons is grossly overstated. It's closer to 2-3%. The percentage of citizens committing the same crimes is much higher compared to the population. I wish you would do some real research before venting on YA.

The Constitution gives them the right under this section, "All powers that are not granted to this Constitution are hereby given to the States". So the states are given any powers not listed under the Constitution. This also means that each state can accept or deny that law leaving it to the national government to enforce said law. But, in many cases the government will use it powers of financial persuasion to get the states to come around. The best example of this is the "national" seat belt law where states will lose highway funding for not meeting the national standards of enforcement. Another example was the "national" 55 mph speed limit where the government refused highway funding if a state set their limits higher then the "national" regulation.

Federal immigration laws did.

In fact, it's not a right -- it's a requirement.

Federal immigration laws REQUIRE that states and cities do not enforce federal laws, and required that states and cities do not discriminate based on immigration status.

So, cities that don't enforce federal immigration laws are doing exactly what the laws REQUIRE them to do.

And cities that try to pass their own immigration laws are violating federal law in doing so.
