I'm getting laser hair removal treatments and I was wondering... should I tip the person that does the actual treatment? It sort of seems like a cross between a doctor's visit (where you generally wouldn't tip the doctor or nurse) and a spa treatment (where you definitely would tip the person). The people that do it are actual nurses. Also, each treatment is like $130 or so, so if I wanted to tip 15%, it would be like $20!! But I don't want to be rude or do the wrong thing..

Oh, and just to give you an idea of what sort of place it is, it's this chain: http://dermacare.com/. As you can see, it's seems like a cross between a dermatologist and a spa. That's why I'm confused about this.

Tips are usually for people of low wage. I would recommend you don't tip them

Really, I think it depends on where you are receiving the treatments. In other words, if you are going to a medical-type facility where the treatments are performed, then do not tip. On the other hand if you are going to a spa and the service provider is an independent contractor, then yes you should tip. 15% is acceptable if you can't afford 20%.

Tipping is not necessary - the women that are performing the procedure are nurses. Would you tip them at the hospital for giving you an injection? It's their job and they're paid well for it.

no, they're getting paid to do their job. They get paid a lot btw so no, tipping isn't neccesary, they're getting paid well over minimum wage if they're operating a laser.

This is a medical procedure. You do not need to tip.
