Global Warming is a serious problem.

According to the best scientific estimates if we are to have any chance at all of stopping Global Warming we must reduce the world wide carbon dioxide emissions to less than one tenth of what they are today.

The only way that we can even come close to that kind of reduction is to ban the production of electricity by the use of fossil fuels and generate all of our electricity by the use of an energy source that does not emit carbon dioxide.

The only two energy sources that have the capacity to do that at a cost comparable to the cost of production of electricity by the use of fossil fuels is the use of wind power or nuclear energy.

Wind power has a cost of production equal to 4 cents per kilowatt hour and nuclear energy has a cost of production equal to 3.8 cents per kilowatt hour(1).

Then we must replace our automobiles, trucks and buses with electric versions or convert the existing versions that use fossil fuel internal combustion engines to run those internal combustion engines on hydrogen that is generated electrolytically from water using electricity that was generated without producing carbon dioxide emissions.

It takes approximately 50 kilowatt hours of electricity to produce an amount of hydrogen with the energy equivalent of one gallon of gasoline(2).

At a cost of 4 cents per kilowatt hour the cost of the electricity for hydrogen production is approximately $2.00 for an amount of hydrogen that has equal energy content to one gallon of gasoline.

If we replace our fossil fuel power plants with an electrical generation source that does not produce carbon dioxide emissions and we convert our transportation system to run on that electricity that will get us most of the way to where we need to be with respect to the reduction in carbon dioxide out put.

Since these cutbacks need to be world wide we must help the people of the world follow our lead..

The amount of the carbon dioxide that needs to be cut is so large this is the only way that we can come close to the reductions in emissions that are required.

I'm quite dismayed at some of the comments made above as they illustrate just how little knowledge of global warming some people have. There are so many factually inaccurate statements - not necessarily ones that relate to global warming but ones that are simply wrong.

Turning to your question. Yes I do have concerns about global warming and have had for some time know (I studied climatology in the 80's, a subject that includes global warming and climate change).

It's evident that we are causing climate change far beyond the parameters that constrain natural variation. The planet is always warming or cooling of it's own accord but does so very slowly over long periods of time. The sort of temperature rises we're observing now are many, many times faster than aything that's gone before.

Climate change is now happening outside of natural limits, nature no longer has control and nor do we. Common sense dictates that action is taken now in order to return the climate to within it's natural boundaries.

If it is ever factually proven that humans are capable of causing GW, I would be concerned. But I believe there is so much liberal 'sky is falling' anti-human hype from the libs that very little can be believed on its face. The liberals hide their true agenda against the human race.
It is laughable that the libs would like to pare the numbers of humans down to about 1 billion or less and yet when in their fantasy the GW could do just that, they want to stop it from happening.
Never once do the liberals mention the billions of Indian and China people burning dried cow dung for their cooking and heating creating a brown greenhouse haze over their countries that can be seen by satellite!! This cow dung haze could cause GW faster than any clear CO2 in the atmosphere. Of course, the libs have not been able to figure out how to tax these peasants.

I just don't want to get too hot because it makes my skin itchy. Other than that I think it will be better because the beach water will be warmer like it is in Hawaii which is really awesome. Things will probably get more tropical too so most of the world will become like Hawaii which i don't see why thats bad. Fruit will get riper faster and taste sweeter which is another good thing. There will be less heating costs in winter which will actually reduce carbon emissions to help global warming.

I am concerned that the global warming Apocalypse is an elaborate, exaggerated concoction of half truths and inconsistant rhetoric that is being/going to be used to fleece the masses out of billions of dollars and that money is going to disappear into bureaucrats personal bank accounts off the coast of Madagascar.

Not a lot, I am not convinced that humans are the only cause of global warming if a cause at all.

No global warming does not concern me, the medieval warm period indicates that temperatures rose faster and higher than our current warm period, humans did quite well during the medieval warm period. It was only when the climate cooled dramatically that things became difficult for civilization. In fact they called it the dark ages.

Yes.... I'm very concerned...

Mostly, I'm concerned that the governmment of this country is being pushed aroung by Corporate America, and is not acting to deal with the issues that cause Global Warming.

This is upsetting to me. It should be upsetting everyone.

No, none at all. I've lived through so many "dire" circumstances in life that need "immediate" action before we're all doomed, I've forgot 90% of them by now.

Like all the other crisis before, this one will pass with very little fan fare, and almost no one will notice that it's not an issue because there will be another crisis that is going to doom us.

The problem is that we have too many people studying the problem. We should end gvmt funding on climate research and have these scientist develop solutions.

No. There is no evidence (and cannot be, as controlled experiments cannot be done) that human activity has any relationship to global warming.

my only concern is that this will not be publicly debunked before christmas. i hate the thought of 'big al' gore making another holiday killing selling more copies of that bogus best seller of his...libs sure fit the bill when it comes to the old saying "there's a sucker born every minute".
