I asked my ex boyfriend to be my friend today and he said okay. I thought it was a good idea since both of us have the same best friend, and he told us how akward it was to have me on one side and my ex on the other and having two conversations. It wasn't a really bad breakup, were both in high school, and neither of us have other relationships so no risk of jealousy. We were each others first loves and it was a very short but sweet 4 month relationship. Given this it seems like a waste to lose a perfectly good friend. So is this a good or bad thing. Seems some people might think against it...

Being friends with an ex is the best way to go. Hating them would mean you still cared and a new boyfriend would not go for that.

I see nothing wrong with it. I only wish it were possible for me to be friends with more of my exes.
