I don't know if going to do more shows, it just depends on how well I do. Because I need equipment and I want to see if it is worth investing money to get more equipment.

Great question!

If you are in the U.S., and if you will be paid for your show, then the answer is yes, you do need a "tax number". In your case, however, your "tax number" is simply your social security number.

You will not need a separate "employer identification number" (EIN), until you decide to form a company (perhaps an LLC?) and do more shows.

Good luck on your show, and please re-post if you have additional questions.

Hope this helps.

You don't need a tax number (EIN) for just one show, you can use your social security number. If you had employees, then you would need an EIN #, and can get one by applying on-line for one through the irs website, www.irs.gov. You would fill out an SS-4 form. You wouldn't use the number to pay taxes, you would still use your social security number.

If you are selling your works, they are probably subject to sales tax. You will need a sales tax number from your state tax agency. This will not be your social security number.

Your social security number will serve as your tax number. I assume that you don't have any employees - if you do you need to get an EIN.

A tax number gives you the tax breaks at the end of the year...other than that...it has proven to be good for getting cuts on prices to companies for stock....thats why I have one.
