Yes it can. I use to work in Radiology depts of several different hospitals and seen proof of it. Lung cancer can show up in different ways. It can show up as different sized masses, streaks in the lungs, dark suspicious looking areas, etc. Usually if these things are found on regular x-ray it is then followed up by other procedures such as MRI scan, CT scan, ultrasound, in order to see it better and determine if it is definitely cancer. If so, then a biopsy is usually done to see what stage the cancer is in. Don't worry until you have something to worry about. If you suspect you have cancer, DO NOT wait! Go immediately to your dr. and get medical intervention started. Good luck to you, hope I have helped.

An xray can be used to screen (early detection of something wrong) or to follow a known lesion. An xray itself can not tell what kind of tissue is in the lungs. It tells you that everthing is normal, or there is something there that should not be present, or something has grown in size. If the xray is not normal than a tissue biopsy is warranted, usually by CT guided biopsy or a video assisted thorocoscopy.

Yes. But not every single type every single time. My mother's lung cancer was detected via a plain and simple chest xray.

It can, if the cancer is advanced enough. Xrays are highly energetic and penetrative ionising radiation. In the old days, they used much higher intensity, but found that the Xrays themselves can cause cancer, so these days, they try to restrict both the number, and intensity of those given. Discuss comparative risks with your doctor.

As a general test it can show a spot or area of concern. If it concerns the Doctor he will proceed with more test. In my case I had an MRI . Then two biopsy's. They now have test that are better than MRI's. Some clinics use a PET scan. This detects all anomaly's that might exist. Some of these test are very expensive. When it's life or death who cares.
Good Luck

The x-ray can detect abnormalities. Yes, lung cancer can be seen. Usually further testing is done to confirm the diagnosis though.

no. it is the first of many tests to prove the occurance of cancer. the x-ray will show shadows and suspicious spots which must then be comfirmed by,mri, pet scan and biopsy. the doc may not do all these tests but they are the norm
