A personal attendant is someone you wish to include in your wedding, but for one reason or another can't include as a bridesmaid (such as limited to numbers, has to include all female family members, or whatever)

A personal attendant typically helps the bride dress for the wedding, as her bridesmaids will typically be getting ready at the same time.

Assist with any last minute errands, decorating, or emergencies.

Manage the photo list with the photographer to ensure that all of the desired pictures are taken. Make sure the bride writes down any and all poses she wants, then just before photos are being taken, the personal attendant reviews the list with the photographer and then as photos are taken checks the poses off the list. Well, you'll need to ask her what her expectations are. Most of the time a personal attendant will help the bride prepare in the bridesroom just prior to the wedding. You might be asked to do some coordinating on some level making sure the cooridnator is doing her job and helping out as needed so the bride doesn't have to look bad for trying to make things happen the way she'd like. If I were you I'd get in touch with the coordinator and find out what her ideas would be and how you can assist her - for instance - if the florist sends the wrong flowers - you may need to run out or call to get another buttoniere for instance. Perhaps the wedding dress will tear or get a stain just prior to the wedding. You may be asked to help with such emergencies. Sometimes a bridesmaid = personal attendant - but you need to ask - a bridesmaid is there to look pretty be your closest moral support and help straighten out the brides dress as needed to make the photos look great - you may be asked to assist with candles or something else - she'll know.

I would say if they are not actually standing in the wedding let them where whatever they want. However, I would still get them gifts since they are still helping you. Maybe you could ask them to wear the wedding colors as an alternative.

As a personal attendant you are there to make sure the bride has everything she needs...from head to toe...make sure she has her flowers when needed, her dress is perfect just basically attending to her every need.
She is depending on you to be there for her. Make it a fun time and don't stress and make sure the bride isn't stressed either. Have fun !!

Personal attendants are not bridesmaids but just as special and important. Think of it this way she will have many bridesmaids but only one personal assistant. You will help her prepare just before the ceremony and assist her personal needs throughout the reception. Have fun....

For some brides it's just a way to recognize you, others want you to do a whole lot of stuff. Just ask her, most brides are pretty good at letting you know what they need. You'll most likely help her get ready.

you help her get dressed
make sure she has what she needs (make up, water, personal care items, etc)
run around doing whatever she may need you to do on her wedding day.
Help her stay organized.
