Let me explain...

The laws of nature are one set of truths. For example, nothing can move faster than light. But if there is a God, and he can do anything, he can move things faster than light - a second truth.

As an atheist, I think one set of truths is sufficient.

I believe you are confusing your terminology here. Truths are different from what the nature of God is. Now, I don't believe in God the same way a lot of others do (I'm Hindu) but I do believe God is omnipotent and can do anything. However, that does not mean WE can do anything. Last I heard, God didn't change the speed of light so it's still 186,000 miles per second. Once God decides that isn't fast enough, scientific analysis would be able to demonstrate that. But that hasn't happened.

I too think one set of truths is sufficient. After all truths are what we as humans observe and set for ourselves based on our realities of the world.

lol, no, that's a law, not a truth. And things won't move faster then light, they will be instantly moved if that happened. May i suggest looking up the difference between Law and Truth. You should find some more answers to your question.
On a side note, who says nothing can move faster then the speed of light? Just because we can't doesn't mean things cant. Think about this, a black hole sucks light back into itself, it must have a pull stronger then the speed of light, so, things would travel at that speed once past the event horizon.

Yea if god is omnipotent he's been on holiday for about 20 billion years, as everything ever measured has abided by the laws of physics of the universe that we have always observed since the dawn of civilisation. Seems he hasn't intervened once and has no power in our universe! Nothing to fear, christians!

I think the word intervene is what a lot of the posters above do not understand

I don't think you understand the things you are saying. First, God does not need to abide by the rules we call "laws of physics". Secondly, in providing air for you to breathe, water for your thirst, and food for you to nourish you body, He has given you the privilege of thought. He kept you alive long enough to allow you to question your own existence and to convey thought to others.
God is truth and He gives His love unconditionally, even when someone questions His significance. I cannot provide all of the answers you seek, but I hope I have helped even if in a small way.

As a Christian I still have one set: "Nothing can move faster than God."

Nothing can move faster than light? says who? A man?
A class in physics might help you make an argument.

God created the universe, and the laws by which it work. while the laws are infinite, He is eternal. He created them so they bow down to him. He controls them at will, and wen He does stop or pause a law for something to occur, thats wat we call a miracle. and 2 basic examples are using thesse 2 laws of nature, the the law of degeneration and conservation. the law of degeneration is proved wen God gives people strength to go on. The law of conservation (that nothing is being created, but being conserved, wasted or recycled) is broken by God wen he brings peopl to live becuase he creates new systems and atom and cells in their bodiess.

Einstein's theory of relativity has many flaws in it. He was a great scientist for his time, but the more we learn, the more we discard old theories for the new. Human beings have very little understanding of mathematics and science. We have a long way to go.
Nice try.
