You can even cut the barrel down below the site for an even cleaner look.

My personal opinion is that it is a good idea to leave the open sights on a rifle just in case you have a boo-boo and bend or bust the scope; you can take it off and still be able to shoot. Without a front sight for a backup you are all through. However, it is your rifle and you can do whatever you want.

Bad idea.
Rifles are for shooting not for looks.
Puting a scope on an SKS will not make it shoot any better and taking off the front sight just reduces the usebility.
If you do cut down the barrel, you will need to recrown the muzzle and be sure you observe the legal limits.

don't bother unless all you want is a sniper look, the sks is not that accurate of a rifle outside of 150 yards,if you are looking for better accuracy try a tech site,my browser is acting goofy so I am having trouble with links, but surplusrifle, com is a good place too look, perhaps someone will be kind enough to put one up for me to surplus rifle, tons of sks info there, pretty sure you also need a sks sight tool to do this.

I dont really think that it is going to matter as long as you remember where you've taken them off so you can replace them if you'd like to. I wouldn't see any troulbe with it though.

If you are fitting a scope, then remove it, no problem.
