You are describing acid reflux. Some foods cause this more than others. Chocolate is a killer, usually and can cause regurgitation. In some people, they may get just heartburn in which they feel a burning the esophagus after eating hearburn inducing foods. But it doesn't come up in their mouths. When the heartburn comes up, it's called acid reflux.
If it comes up frequently, it's called GERD, or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. Over time, it can damage the lining of your esophagus. But there are medications to control it and heal the esophagus. If I were you, I'd make an appt. with a gastroenterologist or have your primary Doctor refer you one. If for some reason you don't want to go, you can buy some Zantac, Pepcid AC or Prilosec over the counter. Using any of these medications over the course of three to four months would heal it up probably. If it doesn't, a Doctor visit would be beneficial. They can prescribe other treatments or stronger drugs to get it under control. Good luck!

You have acid reflux. It burns like acid because it is...well, acid. Stomach acid to be exact. You may be able to control this with over the counter acid reducers like Zantac or Prilosec, but if it persists beyond one package of these remedies, you need to see a doctor for a prescription. It won't go away on its on.

Acid reflux. The number one drugs prescribed in the US are to treat acid reflux. Stop chewing gum. Swallowing a lot of saliva produces a lot of stomach acid.

gastro-esophageal reflux GERD - it is just backflow from the stomach into the pharynx and then the oral cavity. You may have an esophageal sphinctor malfunction, where the lower esophageal sphinctor relaxes and allows the stomach acid to return to the mouth. Many over the counter and prescription meds exist for this (protonix) Go see your doctor.
