Quote #1 should read:

"If we have our own 'why' of life, we shall get along with almost any 'how.' Man does not strive for pleasure; only the Englishman does." ~~Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols, "Maxims and Arrows," #12

Nietzsche was striving for a new definition of "why," based on real life experiences of this life not some abstract concept of the afterlife or supernatural.

Quote # 2:

Well, I can't find the original quote and I really don't like not knowing what context it comes from. However, to me it means that people without a life plan simply follow their bliss.

If you have the entire quote, could you email it to me? Thanks.

I think you need to relook at the first one as it doesn't even make grammatical sense. The second quote means that people who don't set long range goals for what they want from life, usually seek thrills to keep themselves going.
