I think there are ways of doing it without an actual wall for the whole border. Build one for the heavy traffic areas and use technology for the rest.
Enforce the laws already on the books, get rid of the anchor baby law, punish the sancuary cities and make sure the illegals don't have anything to come to here. And by all means when stopped, do not let them go!

There should be some sort of barrier. I'm not sure that a solid stone wall is needed, but there must be some means of assuring the integrity of the border, so that prospective immigrants are required to pass through a checkpoint to verify their legal status.
How does Mexico control their southern border? We could do the same.

Walls are great around populated areas, but building a wall to cover the whole border will just keep more people in.

I hope that everyone hoping for the US to build a wall realizes that most illegal immigrants just get a visa to visit Disneyworld or something and just overstay... Maybe they should shut down Disneyworld...
Why cant people realize that walls dont work? The majestic Wall of China didnt deter the Mongols. East Berlin's wall, with the watchtowers, machine-gunners, and barbed wire didnt deter ppl... Why dont you just close your eyes, your ears, and yell out; "YOU ARE NOT IMMIGRATING HERE! YOU ARE NOT IMMIGRATING HERE! THE TOOTH FAIRY GAVE ME THESE STRAWBERRYS! SANTA CLAUS BUILT THAT BUILDING!...
I feel that a free-trade-free-movement policy should be established in the North American continent, that way, the Dollar could finally compete with the Euro and free movement would finally help Mexico lower its poor/rich gap. Which might be linked to its closed door policy... thought I should let you know...
So if you dont want to be like Mexico, open your borders!

A wall would do absolutely nothing. It would be about as effective as the Great Wall of China was. Not to mention it would cost a ridiculous amount of money.

No, building a wall that would actually be effective would cost so much, taxes would need to be increased by 4-10%. It would be a ridiculous waste of money, since people would just find new ways to sneak into the country.

A wall or fence isn't the best solution, nor a solution at all, by itself, but it could be part of an effective solution. Interrior enforcement is more important at this point.

walls are not needed.....will be obsolete in ten years ....imigration it seems to me is way understaffed....i think records at the agency are way behind in registering .....i monster of a job that could be helped alot by giving thousands of jobs, new jobs to many of our poorest people and they the hardest working people can be respected with these important .....the poor know more about imigration personally ....the working class are always the imigrants .....american citizens or not......
