My kids and I played board games all evening on the porch. By candlelight, no less. We decided to turn the lights off for once and reconnect. It was a lovely time.
How was your day special for you?

Sunny Girl...reading your answer was the icing on the cake. It takes a special person to do your job, and I'm sure the children love you very much.

I work with special need kids. I absolutely love it. Today, one of my extra special kids decided to "hide" after lunch. He is an awesome kid, and thinks these kinds of jokes are the greatest. So after frantically racing around trying to find our precious downs-syndrome angel, we finally found him hiding in one of the tunnels the kids play in. Grinning from ear to ear, he looked at me and asked me "Did I tease you?". I thank God daily for this incredible job. Many don't ever get a chance to see the wonder and beauty that God gives us in this world. I do, and it is in each of the beautiful faces of the kids that I work with. Thank you God.

It's my daughters third birthday today. That might not sound so special, but seeing as we were told we would never have kids, then got pregnant, then she was preemie and in the hospital for a month, on a vent for only 24 hours (that was a miracle by itself!!), and is healthy happy, growing and smart as a whip now!
Oh.. we have 2 other children now also- our second daughter is 22 months, and our youngest girl is a month. But my first will always be special to me because of what we went through before and after we had her.
That is awesome about your family!!! Reconnecting is always a good thing.

I got laid off. That was something.
But I'm an intern and friday was my last day anyway. Which is now my double last day. My company laid off a third of it's employees. I feel really bad for all the people with families. If any of you Christians or whatever wanted to pray for them, that'd be cool.
And you said special, not good. Sorry if I'm a buzzkill, but that made the day pretty special.

What made my day special is hearing my customers tell me they look forward to being there and I do a really good job. I work at a place where people come in to buy pottery and paint it, then the owner dips it in clear glaze and fires it in a kiln. My job is to help the customers make their pottery look the way they want it to, or as close as possible to it, and I guess I do pretty good. :o)

I made a new friend, and it seems like he might actually be someone I can talk to about more than just superficial things.
I also discovered that I can get tofu on my nachos at a restaurant near work, about which I am very excited. Sometimes it's the little things...

I found a parking spot for my Harley right in front of the door where I work. No kidding, it's true, and I am soooo happy (I peek outside constancy to behold it.)

I got a nice relief from the oppressive heat wave in my Southern home, and enjoyed the great weather in coastal NH.

It's the little things - my "daughter-in-law" put the groceries away, my younger son phoned just to say hi, my gal friend listened while I vented about the hubby . . .
