scare tactics
guilt tripping

you dont get the point... as stupid and obvious scientology is, people still fall for it...

of course you wouldnt admit that you just "fell for it" because you are blinded... just like the scientologists. most wont admit that they were "fooled"

A lot of people just will not hear it. I had a very very long conversation with a young lady about her faith in God verses, say, faith in another god like Quetzalcoatl. She simply kept parroting "MY god is the real god, Quetso-whatever is made up" no matter how many times I demonstrated that faith in Quetzalcoatl is JUST THE SAME as faith in Yahweh.

Though... I have to say, getting into Scientology probably isn't the same as being a Christian. Scientology is a cult which includes aggressive brainwashing and threats of legal action and physical violence against apostates.

You're right about how they're equally ridiculous. Some immaterial mysterious super power sends a mortal version of itself (though still endowed with magical abilities) to earth so that it's mortal self can be sacrificed to it's deific self so that it's deific self can salvage humanity from the sanctions it created in the first place. And that's just Christianity. I mean, how is that any more reasonable than the Scientology assertion that we're full of alien spirits, that our mental illnesses do not exist (and in that blanket statement they include bipolar disorder, autism, epilepsy, etc), that holding onto two tin cans while recounting our traumatic experiences will free our "spiritual selves" and grant us total recall and telekinesis, etc?

Seth N: L ron, was a hack writer, don't besmirch the true science fiction writers.

Most people have fallen into the trap of religion. Some of us have broken out. Hooray! for us, and let us help others get out.

Thankfully, those of us who CHOOSE not to believe are ALREADY free ;););)

As for those of ANY religion - think about the so-called "miracles", and compare them to the fictional words of L. Ron Hubbard...

Some guy who lives in a realm that floats above the earth (god in heaven), a walking goat-dude living in a pit of flames, a talking burning bush, angels...

HOW is ANY of that different then Xenu, Thetans, and intergalactic spaceships (that look like airplanes)??????

I guess that Scientology just has more "sci-fi" sounding names for things ;);););)

I look at everything in terms of history, and prophecy.

Jesus was prophecied and all 300 of those came true through Him.

How can He mathematically have tried to do that and succeed unless indeed He was Whom He said He was?

Historically since Adam, the ancient texts were written about human history and prophecy to the Messiah. It came true..[exception of the future prophesies in Rev and some of Isaias also future tense]

Scientology on the other hand...
was created by the imagnation of a fiction writer.

So, no contest.

Seth--no, it wasn't, it was only founded by dozens of unknown authors who thought the world was flat and the sky was dome-shaped and solid. They thought that if you cut stripes in a stick and put it where your sheep and goats could look at it while mating, the baby sheep and goats would be born with stripes or spots. They thought it was okay to own slaves, to force young girls into marriage and kill them if they weren't virgins, and to kill anyone who was a different religion or who was gay. Do you really want to take spiritual advice from people like that?

just for some good laughs the fool that said he's with Christianity in hopes that if it's real he'll win. Nah, man your are going to hell, God knows you only believe in him for your own Personal Gain, If he is real, Therefore you're going to hell, and you can't justify what you've said, it's already been said, Have fun Roasting with Atheists. but yeah, Rock on atheism We're all gonna rot in the Ground, I Hope the Christians are right, I don't wanna die!

Christianity is hardly sugar coated, don't know what you have heard. Don't you read the comments regarding Christianity? Don't you hear of the Christians in other countries and even here in US that are persecuted for their belief? It is a risk we make the choice to take . A Christian is never trapped, on the contrary, we have been freed. Even at our death, we are free, as we go on to live eternity (which all will live eternity, but where?) with God.

Uhh, i wudnt leave my faith to a science fiction writer. and their beliefs make NO SENSE AT ALL. christianity is more reasonable i believe, and the fact that u hav to pay for scientology says a lot. I just find it kind of hard anyone wud believe an alien sent souls to earth and thhey eventually reached our human bodies.
