In a movie, a man was walking out of an office and he took a handkerchief out of his mouth and dabbed it at his mouth and head, and a couple scenes later, blood came out of his mouth.

Kind of. The usual cause for a cancer patient bleeding from the mouth would be mouth sores, gum disease, or low blood counts. Low blood counts come about from chemotherapy or radiation. Leukemia can also cause low blood (platelet) counts. People with low blood counts can bleed easily even from simple tasks like brushing the teeth or flossing. People can also have sores within the mouth caused by chemo or radiation that can bleed also.

So, yes, in a way this is possible if the man had leukemia . . or if he another cancer and was already receiving chemotherapy or radiation and was experiencing ulcers or mouth sores. It might not be particularly accurate if in the movie he had not yet been diagnosed with cancer (unless it was leukemia and than maybe . . ).

I am assuming that you are not talking about someone coughing up blood . . which would be a different answer.

There are several types of cancer where bleeding from the mouth can be a symptom.

There are also side effects of cancer treatments that can cause this.

However, just because someone has blood from the mouth doesn't mean they have cancer, there can be other causes.
