It'll take a few hours inititally for them to put the braces on, but it's painless, just mostly tedious as you will have to sit still for a while. To be honest, getting them filed won't hurt either, and you won't have gaping holes in your mouth as you would have if your teeth were pulled to make room like mine were.
After they're put on, your teeth will be sore for a few days while they adjust to the braces and move around. You'll probably be eating a lot of mashed potatoes and ice cream:) but if the pain is bad, take some Advil or something. Your mouth will feel pretty unwieldy, what with your lips having to adjust to more stuff in your mouth and all. It won't be too bad, and if you take good care of them, in the end you'll have a gorgeous smile =)

I have had braces for a year. I was kinda freaked out, but it's not that bad. It feels really wierd for like a week, but you get used to them fast.
I had to have these "bite bumper" things on for a while, which made it hard to eat. If you don't have to get them, then I don't think eating will be a problem.
It took the orthodontist about an hour to get the braces put on. It wasn't very comfortable, because he had to put this thing on my tongue and it felt like I was being gagged.
You have to brush a little more thoroughly, otherwise you get like crap and stuff stuck in them.
It hurts for a couple hours or so, but if you take a painkiller a little while before they put them on, it won't hurt that much, if not at all.
After about a week though, you get used to them, and they don't really seem like that big of a deal. Plus, a lot of people have braces, so it's not like you're gonna be the only one and everyone's gonna make fun of you and treat you differently or anything.
Look on the bright side, at least you get to pick the color of them!!!! I recommend pink!! Pink is pretty!!!!
Don't stress about it. After the braces, your teeth will be perfectly straight!!!
Good Luck and I hope I helped!!

It'll take a couple hours to put them on, with a little extra time to get your teeth filed. It shouldn't hurt.
Your mouth does hurt a little each time they get tightened though. Be sure to floss and brush often to keep them clean. After a couple years, you'll get them taken off and have a beautiful smile! Your orthodontist will make a retainer that you'll have to wear for a while, and then just at night. That will keep your teeth from moving back to the way they were. I don't remember how long I had to wear mine at night but it was a couple of years.

its not bad at all...it will hurt for a few days or a week but it will go away! just try to take medicine before going to the doctor so it won't hurt when its all done...doesnt take long at all to put it in either!
eat soft foods and you will be fine. no worries!
the braces will be worth it! you'll look great once they are gone!
wish you the best of luck!! =]

Not much. It's gonna feel alittle "weird" for awhile- having "stuff" in your mouth. But it won't hurt to speak of- & you'll be used to it in a couple of weeks. People put up with them ALL the time- & you will too. It's NO big deal. :)
