And then say they "don't understand" how God could let little children starve to death.

The god of the OT is different than the god in the NT. Christiandom adopted the canaanite mythos in creating THEIR religion.

Basic Canaanite mythos...There was Elohim, the father god who had a violent temper, just like the god of the OT. Elohim was said to favor his son MOT, the canaanite god of darkness, like the christian story of Lucifer. Mot was in an eternal struggle with BAAL, the 'resurrected' son god of LIFE/Fertility. (((ONLY a simplified depiction---there were something like 104 different gods within their pantheon.))

In Hosea and Habakkuk, we learn of the 'sons of ephraim'--the Canaanites, they venerated a stick of wood, offered up human sacrifice upon high places--like MT Calvary, used human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.

Hab 2:16 the cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

In the hebrew tradition, their god was ONLY to be viewed as SPIRIT. The OT idolty law--Deut 4:15-16 Since you saw no form on the day the the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire. beware lest you act corruptly by making a graven image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of man or female...

Also within the tradition, god was said to be EVERYTHING. All the good and bad all stems from god. In Jeremiah, it says that those coming preaching a god of love are 'false prophets."

Child molestors are also proof their isn't a 'good' god. Even a vile sinner couldn't stand in the same room a predator defiling a child and do NOTHING; but the 'good Christian' god who is supposed to be EVERYWHERE, is THERE and does NOTHING?!?

Its also hard to justify thousands of children dying from starvion everyday-worldwide, when something like 5 trillion dollars a year is collected in tithe money worldwide from the christian groups alone.

Is it ugly when a parent spanks a toddler for trying to run out into the street or forbids a teen from going to a party where there will be drugs and alcohol or refuses to bail a son or daughter out of a gambling debt?
Love is not kissing under a moonlit sky. True love means having to roll up your sleeves and get ugly sometimes.
Besides, there were no Christians in the OT, only Jews and gentiles. Christianity started after the ministry of Christ.

God makes the nation of Israel suffer often in the Old Testament. This is because of their sin and turning away from God, God does this so they will turn back to Him. I do not think you realize how serious sin is to God. God is holy and just and He judged Israel in the Old Testament for their sins. So this is Israel's fault not God's. Also when Moses gave Israel the Law it was told what would happen to them if they turned away from God, they turned away and guess what happened, exactly what God said would happen. So God did nothing ugly by punishing the nation of Israel for its sin, or other nations for that matter. In fact, it would be more ugly if God just let the sin go unpunished. If He did, He would not have perfect justice and therefore would not be God. However, He is God and His justice and holiness is shown in the Old Testament, while His grace and love is shown in the New by Jesus Christ. God bless.

I would like to recommend a short book on this subject that will clarify this topic, if you're truly interested (I will spare you an overly long and exhaustive answer here). It's called "The True Nature of God" by Andrew Wommack - you can get it off Amazon.com I highly suggest you get this very readable book because it will thoroughly answer your question.

First of all i am a Christian. The Old Testament was a time when or sins were not forgiven. So anyone who sinned was to go to hell. But do not forget that the people that believed in God
and did not sin ,in the Old testament, were exalted. In the new testament Jesus died for our sins and now as long as we believe in him we shall not perish but have eternal life. Today we should praise God for the things he has given to us now and
has prevented us from the "ugly stuff" of hell and sin.

i do not think all Christians ignore the goings on in third world countries. i know many Christians that go on missions trips on a regular basis to places all over Africa for months at a time, and they do what they can to help. furthermore those children "cary the sins of their fathers and forefathers" for which they are being held accountable for.

God doesnt have respect for humans outside of His covenants ... i think thats clear man fell from grace and came under the curse of sin ... we live in a day of grace because of Jesus and i dont take that for granted ... in the end evil and those that work it will be totally wiped out ..

With a question like that, I leave a scripture like this...

Romans 9:
20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

I don't ignore it. I read it in context. Why don't you try that? If you do you'll find that God always gave plenty of warning to people before allowing bad things to happen, the people just chose not to listen... much like atheists...

We don't ignore it. They simply are the examples of God's justice.
