If you're looking for a small dog I would suggest researching different breeds to suit your lifestyle. There are so many different dog breeds out there that you're sure to find the right one for you. For example, terriers tend to be suitable for a more active family whereas pekingese, cavalier king charles spaniels or shi-tzus tend to be more laid back and relaxed. Remember to choose a dog breed that suits everyone in the home. It's also important where you get the dog. I strongly suggest finding a reputable breeder that can give you accurate information on the breed of dog you choose. Stick to breed standards!! In order to insure a well mannered and friendly companion you'll need to do a lot of research. Avoid irresponsible pet stores and puppy mills!!! And there are always wonderful smaller dogs in shelters that are looking for a home. Don't forget about the mixed breeds!! They make great pets too!!

Everyone is different and you need to look closly into what dog will match your living situation.

Personally, I have a beagle and they are a medium sized dog. They are an extremely friendly, even tempered dog though they can be very naughty and love food. Beagles are great dogs but just make sure you have time for them and give them lots of exercise because like any dog they can get bored and bark.

All Dogs, except one kind, require lots of attention and love. If indoor you have to keep the his potty breaks at a schedule time or else you'll have gifts left lying around.
You'll need to spend time with your animal that means you should be a home person, someone who does not go out to often, and when you do for short periods only. The one kind of dogs that you don't need to spend a lot of time with or you never have to worry about potty breaks are stuffed animals. You don't need to get a dog it could be a bear or maybe sponge bob. Either way Lots of Luck. I have an English Bulldog and not the stuff kind, and she a beauty who owns my heart.

Get a used dog. One that is house broken. Lots of good small dogs need homes. Check the pound and also the newspaper ads. You can probably get one that is only a year or so old but ready to be a good pet.

Find small breed dogs you like and do your research on the breed. Find out what is best for you, like do you want a little yappy think or something that is laid back. Just remember to socialize your puppy. Cause even small dogs can get nippy and bite, though they don't bite as hard as a big dog it can still hurt.

Hands down a Chihuahua, or a Pomeranian, The Poms shed and have to be brushed, but are absolutely adorable loyal smart, and easy to train. The Chi is my choice because I have two. They are very very cute especially the little Fox Face, this goes for both breeds, Chi's are one person dogs need socializing & love to be on your lap. My Chi's are not as smart as my Pom was. I had to put her to sleep after 13 years, So I knew I would never find another like her. I changed to Chi's and they are great pets, friends and comedians. Mine love to wear shirts. They run around in circles and jump up and down when I take their shirts off. I have to hurry and redress them or they mope. Good luck on which ever breed you choose just make sure you really want one of the little guys they will reward you with undying love for many years.

Chichuahuas are cute and small, but if your looking for something a little more active (like a fetching dog) Labs are perfect. Yorkshires also make good small dogs

Well a good small dog is a Beagle. They are sooo cute and really nice if you raise them well. If you want to try a semi large dog then try a Lab.

look your a woman rigth look dont buy large dogs only if u are willing to give them alot of food and water and to exercise them every day, neither buy a chihuahua they bark alot they bark every hour every minute every second super annoying i prefer a Yorkshire terrier there small and love their owner if you treat them nice, second choice a pug they are nice and ugly at the same time a Pomeranian a wonderfull dog for companie but get scared easily and barks not as much as the chihuahua and last but not least the french bulldog companion and guard dog at the same time so that are my choises pick a good one
