My mom is Mormon and my dad is agnostic. When my mom lived with us, I believed in what she did, but then I investigated it and Christianity and made sure that there was some solid evidence but I won't go there right now... :)

Mine didn't...I was sent to Sunday School but didn't actually get much out of it....I remember being given a little bitty black bible that I couldn't read, I don't think. That's it, until the age of 37 after years of being an agnostic....that's when I picked up a Bible and started to read it. I read that book by Hal Lindsey, "The Late Great Planet Earth" and I was totally fascinated by bible prophecy and the end times. I still love the book of Revelations...

Atheist here, but I'm not sure I understand your question. You think I imagine every parent tells their children about God? Sorry, but that's just not so. Atheists have children of their own and don't indoctrinate them with religious superstition. Some believer-parents are weak, lazy, or corrupt and don't properly brainwash their own kids. Some kids refuse to be indoctrinated.

I don't feel good about this answer because I don't really understand how the question itself is related to the two statements which follow. It seems like you imagine I can read your mind, but I won't go there right now....:)

Because it is a proven fact that 90%+ of people have exactly the same religious belief as one or both of their parents - so it's a reasonable assumption.

As for "solid evidence," I suspect your standards and mine are far different, because in 40+ years of looking at it I haven't seen any. If you bought into Joe Smith's nonsense you're even more gullible than the average believer.

religions are masters of manipulation.... somewhere along the line someone understood nature and our union with it and betrayed us all... what we have today is a world enundated with christianity hardly room for anything else... what does it mean to be spiritually inspired and why is it that people beleive it hasn't happend in 2000 yrs... the purpose of our spirit is to unite us with nature... nature works to balance and heal itself... giving messages receiving messages back and forth to and from all life... if we look at the animals we see there is a balance, there are greater number of familly of animals who tend to be prey than there are in packs of animals that are the hunters.... new bugs come up having a purpose and when they become to plentiful another member of the animal life or insect life feeds off them until there is a balance... Nature heals itself but the "study" and obsession with religious litterature fills our minds and bodies with just that so we don't hear nature and nature doesn't hear us.... when we are full of only religion nature cannot heal us with it...

They are indoctrinated? So what solid evidence? The standard "Look around you, if there is no god, you would not be here, the world will not be like this?" Hardly fit the criteria.

With absolutely no substantiating data to back up my statements I'd suggest that well over 75% of xians get there because their parents were in the cult.
Many others would join up cos the society in which they exist plays in the xian playpen.

I doubt anyone ever said ALL Xians are xians cos their parents were although there are all sortsa people with all sortsa handles on logic.

Um... wait, let me call my mom....

My mom said she force-fed my Christianity because she subconsciously knew there was no validity for it and...what? Oh, she was afraid I would think rationally and reject silly ideas like that.

And she says that she went and found lots of "solid evidence" to show me, too, but it was all a bunch of crap from hucksters and frauds with agendas instead of actual regurge. Oh, research.

I guess we atheists think that all of your parents told you about God because you admit that your mom did.

I don't think all Christians had their parents tell them about God, but your mother obviously told you about God.

Mormon = told you about God. You just went with another religious organization. You didn't switch deities.
