"Where should we be?"

I don't mind atheists being here as long as they are respectful to others. I say the same about Christians, but let's face it, there is more Christian bashing from atheists than atheist bashing from Christians. Let's debate this like civilized people instead of neanderthals. I thought we evolved? Or maybe not.

It is amusing to think that because one has an interest in philosophy that involves questioning religion and other traditional myths, that one should be excluded from the discussion of such things. Don't they understand it is our questioning minds that have made us examine religions and found it unpalatable for our own lives and fascinating that people can accept it for their own with such eagerness. The reason I am an atheist is because I have examined religion so closely and know more about the bible and history than most religious people and therefore I feel I am capable of participating in discussions on the matter.

Unfortunately many religious people (not the nice, intelligent, left leaning ones) consider any dissent from their own opinions as offensive and are upset that their arguments for the beauty of blind faith and ignorance as not persuasive.

We belong to a tribe called humanity.
After that we can fine tune it in any way we want for ourselves.
If you want to meet the expectation of others it's time you had a look at yourself and quit wasting energy.

I agree that atheists should be involved in the religion and spirituality section. The fact that they claim to not have a religion implies a belief of sorts, therefore they should be allowed to be considered part of this section.
