You are definitely not too old . . . I started skating wayyyyyyy later than you (and I know others who started wayyyyy later than that!). For sure you will be able to do jumps and spins - among other figure skating moves!!! Once you seriously get hooked with the sport, it's possible you may change your mind about competing as there are competitions for all ages and levels. Never too old!!!
The best place to start is with group classes. You can find flyers about what they offer at your local rink - or you can ask the skating office about it. There may be a rink website with the skating school info as well. They do have age ranges for the classes, so you will possibly be learning with others around your age.
Best of luck to you - give it a try!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY NOT! =) I began when i was 13 and had the same doubts as you did, so thats why im excited to hear you are interested in it, so i can motice, lmaoo. I never had anyone to tell me that i was not too old, so i had to learn it on my own. When i began skating, i tought maybe i was too old, too tall, too late, etc. But there really never is a time that isnt good to begin. A lot of people even begin skating as adults, and get very far! So you say you want to learn jumps and spins, and that is definitly a possiblilty! Im 15 years old now, and im working on jumps like my lutz, flip, loop, salchow, and axel soon, and spins like my scratch spin, sit spin, and camel. Trust me, if you want to sand set your mind to it, you swill be so great! If i can, you can too. And even if you ever decide you want to compete, there are different categories and levels for everyone, so you can compete against girls your age and level. So i hope you decide to go for it. Once you sign up, if you take a group class, you might find there are some other girls that are around your age that have just began too. Skating is such an amazing sport, and once you actaully get on the ice, youre going to fall completely in love with it, Gooooddd Luck!, and I hope you enjoy yourself out there!

You're never to old to do what you like. I've heard of some skaters who started when they were 15 and ended up competing in the Olympics.
Also, I have a friend who started when she was 11 and had never, ever skated before. Now she's learning her axle at 13. So go for it!

You're never too old. If you want to do it, my gosh live your life to the fullest go ahead and do it!! However, you must know that few people that start skating actually don't compete. It's not that it's required or anything, but that's half the fun of the sport. (ie-getting medals!) Both me and my friend started skating thinking we would do it "just for fun" without competing, but now, both of us are competing!!

Your never too old. But, if you want to learn spins, jumps, footwork, technique, artistry, ect, your going to need to enter a class or go for a personal coach. Just be sure that your coach knows that you DONT want to compete b/c most coaches will pressure you into competing. But they will all respect your descision not to as well. Classes go from anywhere to $80-$120 and private practice time with coaches range anywhere from $60-$160. I say go for it girl. Its an amazing sport that pushes you to be your best and have fun. Good Luck!

No, you are not too old. People start skating way into adulthood nowadays and can learn difficult elements and enjoy skating. Johnny Weir started skating at age 12 and made it to the Olympics at age 22. While he is exceptionally gifted on the ice and it's rare to accomplish what he did, it just shows that you can start skating at any age.

Definitely not! I started one year ago when I was 15 and now I can do the scratch spin, sit spin, camel spin, waltz jump, salchow, and toe loop. You can absolutely accomplish it if you want to. You should give it a go if money is not an issue.

No you are not too old to begin skating, you probably will not become an Olympic skater, but you can certainly do "smaller" competitions, learn jumps, and spins, and enjoy it!
