Well, one way of looking at it is, this is religion and *spirituality* section, and while the first may, or may not, require a belief in deity, the second part definitely does not require any belief.

So, this forum is open to anyone posting either religious, or spiritual beliefs, and Atheism and it's attendant philosophies do fall under the spiritual heading, so they have a right to answer and question here, just like anyone else.

I asked the same question - I was new - still am - anyway I think the real question is why the bashing on Christians.
Especially if there is a question directed to Christians - a lot of people post rude comments.
I agree that anyone can read and post on anything - I just wonder why anyone feels it necessary to bash other people.

non-religious people may be interested in FINDING a religion, or simply studying the category.

Many Atheists do indeed follow a religion, and therefore (by YOUR definition) qualify to be here.

Either way, it is a topic of discussion, not a club. Therefore there is no criteria needed to take part.

Its only under a modern definiton that an atheist STEROTYPICALLY means one with no god. Originally, in the early greek usage, it meant a person with no set doctrine or religion---kinda like an gnostic, agnostic, or one of the FREE THINKING heretics.

Secondly, if one actually talks with an atheist, rather than judging them based upon the Christian Propaganda Sterotypes--one usually finds that most atheists are quite knowledgeable concerning scriptures of various religions, as well as history.

Granted, we will have them atheists that are 'full of vinegar', but if one remembers the scripture concerning such people. 'Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Many such people have had BAD experiences with Christians.

Personally, I have learned not to expect things like morality nor knowledge from a bunch of sinners like Christians. If a sinner is willing to LIE and DEFY their OWN god(s), truth is nothing is sacred to them. If a sinner is willing to LIE and DEFY their OWN god(s), its not like one can really expect them to be truthful to mere humans.

OK, this is the 6,947,283rd time this has been asked.

If zero is a number, then atheism is a religion.

If anyone, I mean ANYONE, has a question regarding religion and spirituality, that question belongs here. Categories are about the QUESTION, not the person asking or answering.

It is a belief, just be a good christian if that is what you are and live the 2 grat commandments, Love God and love your neighbor. Lead by example, if you know someone that is not a believer then be an example not a thrasher and a hater. They might eventually come around if they see a beliver acting the way Christ commanded.

Yes. From now on, only religious people should post in religion, just like only cats post in "cats," only sports players post in "football," and only politicians post in "politics"

That question is asked so often it should be its own section on YA.

I suspect the internet is the only place they can insult Christians willy-nilly. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's the only place they can. That's why they're here. That's the only reason why they're here. I defy an atheist to give me a better reason. They can't, they'll just give me thumbs down.

If atheists pick learn and customarily strengthen their depressing, pathetic and lost lives then all could desire to welcome them right here. in spite of the undeniable fact that if their basically interest is to pour scorn on non secular believers then that isn't any spaghetti for them this evening.

So.....what would be the alternative section?
By your logic, I shouldn't post in the Mythology & Folklore section too because I don't believe in myths o_0
