Why do people always want to blame God? Who is actually letting the children starve to death? Its we as humans that make that decision. When you have Governments in the USA and in Europe that pay farmers NOT to grow food you begin to see where the problem really is.
People continually claim the world is overpopulated and that we are running out of food to feed the growing population. Do some research about how much food DOESN'T get planted each year and you'll see we should have plenty of food for the entire world - Governments just don't want to give it away to the needy - they'd rather pay farmers not to grow it.
God gave humanity free will, humanity then chose to use that free will to reject God, and all of his commands about how we should love each other and care for 'widows and orphans'. He allows us to choose for ourselves how we treat each other, and we as a whole choose to look after number one and to hell with the rest.

On the one hand, as many people have said, it is not up to God, it is up to Man. It is no good crossing a busy highway at night with ones eyes closed & then blame God for the consequences.
On the other hand, we do not understand what is ultimately good and what is ultimately bad. The correct attitude is "The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

Geez you know God is not the one that lets bad things happen!! Why is it that everytime something bad happens people blame God? God gave us the gift of choice and its something that he will not trifle with! If he wanted to he would make everyone in the world believe in him and that would be the end of it. Instead God gave us free will to choose as we wish, and of course as we have seen people have chosen that free will of choice to do horrible things. And those horrible things lead to the horrible situations this world is going through, including dangerous storms, climate changes, wars, famines and so on and so forth. God is just waiting for everyone to have a chance in accepting his free gift of salvation, thats why he died in the cross for us, for our sins!! The times and events that are going on right now tells us that Gods soon return is near, and we must be ready for it. Are you ready?
God Bless

God allows things to happen because if God stepped in everytime we messed up people would not learn from mistakes. And we would not have free will to do as we please. people need to realize to take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming it on God when something goes wrong. Everything in life has a cause and effect. You make a mistake or do evil things that are against the law, there is going to be suffering.

I don't think anyone can answer this. I rant at God sometimes about stuff like this, but it doesn't stop me believing in him.
There are plenty of books about this, I've only read one of them, 'where is God when it hurts' by Philip yancey.I can recommend it.
Bad things have always happened, the Old Testament is full of it, and it didn't stop them believing in god either!

it's us who let awful things happen, not God. God gave us brains, He gave us our own free wills, He gave us power, authority so it's basically us who are trying to turn the world upside down. If God was to be responsible for every good and bad thing happening in the world, why would he give us brains?

I can't agree, for me there is No God. If there was then he must be some evil SOB.
Why do i feel this way, My twins were born too soon, for no reason. My son died but his sister lived. If there was a god why would he let such things happen and do nothing.
And i get thumbs down for the way i feel, why?

Bee bee, the question is how can a parent bring a child into the world that s/he cannot sustain? That is what happens in countries like Africa and India. They bring all these kids into the world and they know they cannot feed them. That's their faults, not God's!

because if it was all good we'd never appreciate it.
Ands also, God created man, man is the one who does most of the harming: global warming, war, murder..etc, in the eyes of God, this is wrong.
Simply put, God is another name for Love, all religion is a metaphor, and is there to simplify a complicated situation, so we can all follow it correctly. If we all listened to out hearts and our conciences (driven by our hearts) more often, the world would be a much healthier and happier place.
