I have OCD. It's a living hell! Someone in here told you that if you have OCD you keep things really clean and scrub your hands raw from washing. That CAN happen to you, but you don't have to be a compulsive cleaner to have OCD. I'm not a compuslive cleaner and I believe myself to have a severe form of it. OCD can cause you to become obsessed over virtually anything. For me, I worry myself sick over the health of my husband. I have this chronic fear of death. It's an anxiety disorder. It causes severe, intense anxiety. Bi-polar is a roller coaster of emotions. One minute you feel on top of the world, and the next you come crashing down and spend days crying.
I wish you the best if by some chance you're battling with a mental illness.

OCD = Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder - the need to perform certain actions or repeat certain behaviors to excess. The classic example is obsessively washing the hands, to the point that they begin bleeding. Also associated with a tendency to worry excessively about things.
Bipolar Disorder is an inability to stabilize one's mood. People with this disorder will be high or manic for a while, often with a reduced grasp on reality, making grandiose, unrealistic plans and embarking on high-risk ventures. Then suddenly the mood will change to crushing depression and lethargy, possibly including attempts at suicide.
Note - Orson Scott Card wrote an intriguing Novella called "Gloriously Bright" (later incorporated into one of his Ender Wiggin novels) about a group of people who were engineered to be geniuses, but also afflicted with OCD so they would not be a threat to those that created them.

Obsessive compulsive disorder is where the individual mentally rehashes things over and over again. It's one thing to analyze something but and obsessive compulsive never gets through with it. It can whip up conditions like anxiety. Another form is that they will do things like wash they hands over and over again.
Bipolar is commonly heard today and it used to be called manic depression. The individuals mood change from being so depressed they are crying all the time or just wanting to sleep all the time to being manic where you believe you are capable of doing anything. Manic people don't want to sleep. A manic person may stay awake so long they loose touch with reality and that is called psychotic break.
The great painter Vincent Van Gogh may have painted many of his paintings when he was manic.

Some examples of OCD are having to wash your hands constantly, having to clean something over and over again.
Bipolar can be characterized as bipolar or manic depression. Bipolar is said to be heriditary. Symptoms can be depression, suicidal thoughts one day and the next a person can be hyper and happy. It almost seems like they are two different people.

OCD is obsessive compulsive disorder. it causes the affected to constantly dwell over minute things, or develop "rituals" where they repeat or do a certain action.
Bipolar affects the user by putting them in emotional highs or lows without their control. There usually is no constant pattern for the waves, but they tend to be polar (hence bi- polar) opposites and extremes in behavior.

both disorders act differently in each person
ocd..you obsess over thoughts or actions
bi-polar ..you swing form one pole to another..depressed to manic
looking up the terms on any dictionary site would give you better definitions
both disorders are difficult on both the person suffering from them and on the docters trying to treat them because there is no cookie cutter treatment that workd for everyone and difficult on the family of the person who has it

O.C.D. is obsessive compulsive disorder and if you have this disorder you keep everything really clean and you are obsessed with certain things you do. Bipolar disorder is when you go through moods like crazy and you do things you wouldn't normally do like go outside butt naked.
