Most people come here to ask a question & get a good answer with out having to search for hours on the net. They pour their heart into some of these questions some even offer personal information & all they get back is rude unneeded static that really doesn't help answer there question. So why is it that people can't just give a helpful answer & NOT a hurtful opinion?

I wasn't asking because of an answer to one of my question I'm just shocked at how nasty people are to those who need help so before you give some sort of rude answer please take note that I'm aware of the ignorance the people like to display via the web & yours will not effect me.

I agree, but remember this is the internet. Get used to it.

Maybe because they are frustrated that so many people post questions that don't make any sense and so they just get more and more annoyed and then take it out on some poor unsuspecting person. Also, people might be angry about the ignorance of the question or how the person asking a question is rude to certain types of people.

That's a good question, and there's no easy answer.

Often people who are bored come to Yahoo! Answers to answer questions and give ridiculous and often hurtful answers. I've seen this many times. Other answers contain unbearable sarcasm, answers poking fun at the question (or the asker!) and just plain stupid answers. Fortunately I haven't seen spam.

The reason people do this is purely because of bordem, or they're offended or surprised by the question for various reasons. However, there is no good reason for rude answers.

The best thing to do is ignore them and move on.

Good luck!

With respect to stupid questions, the meanies -- in their "real" lives -- have to suppress the scathing responses that they'd like to give to all the stupid questions they hear. That's frustrating. Here, on YA, they have the ability to give the nasty answers they've fantasized about giving under a cloak of total anonymity. Perhaps this is cathartic for them.

As for rude answers to non-stupid questions, I'm guessing that it's some kind of antisocial power trip. They see someone suffering, and they can't resist the urge to kick the person while he/she is down.

Sometimes rude people ask questions to get a rise. I usually don't waste my time so when I do answer I try to be thoughtful. Just ignore those people.

I try not to give rude answers, but if the question is just to silly I may be a bit of a smartazz. I just really hate the "am I pregnant" question, for gods sake spend the 5 bucks for a home preg test...those just annoy me.

Because you are dealing with human nature here.

If you were to try to find information through your computer's search engine, you would get a specific answer, hopefully untainted by the perversity of the human mind.

who knows? some of these punks are drunk or high or very young, I'm sure there are many reasons, but I agree so strongly with you....there are some really unnecessary and rude attacks to innocent, curious askers. tsk tsk. It takes a lot of the fun out of this.....

It is called deindividuation.

In crowds, public forums, graffiti, etc. people who are normally in control of their rudeness sometimes take advantage of the fact that their are no direct consequences to their crudeness.

They basically turn into little children.

Why are most of the questions ridiculous? Like this one. If I had a serious question, I sure wouldn't ask these morons.
