A lot of you said we are to confess to priests, but what you are forgetting is that JESUS IS our ONE HIGH PRIEST, and we are under a new covenant through Him- PLEASE Read Hebrews 8. I urge you to read it-- it speaks about this and how Is the mediator between God and man-- here is my last question regarding this, so you are not confused as to what I am talking about> http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsG8uH4A5RAid2PNYbK5DF7sy6IX?qid=20070828155638AAwo0Ud

Yes JESUS IS GOD!
I should of clarified that, my main point is we do not confess to priests!! We do not pray to saints!
This is not right! God tells us we are to confess to HIM alone--we are under a new covenant with Jesus Christ, there is no more need for priests for Christ is our one High Priest!

Jesus is our mediator because He is the God/Man; both fully man and fully God: God incarnate, God in-the-flesh. We could not stand before God to give an answer for our sin-guilt; Job could not, Moses could not, Isaiah could not, John the Baptist could not, the apostle Paul could not, only Jesus can. And He does on our behalf. He can because He was sinless, He does because He and the Father are one.
Satan is the great accuser of the saints before God. He stand in the presence of God accusing us of all the sins we have committed, and all the temptations we have imagined. This he did against Job. 1 Peter tells us that Satan goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour: "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour," (1 Peter 5:8).
Hebrews 8 tells us that Jesus stands as the mediator, the ombudsman, our lawyer if you will, before God to defend the saints against the attacks and accusations of Satan.
How does He do that? We are not told how, just that He does.

actual, the Bible is examine on a daily basis of the twelve months in a lot world huge. There are 4 (particularly situations in basic terms 3) readings from the Bible in each and each Mass. First analyzing is an old testomony analyzing, then a Psalm, then a clean testomony analyzing (no longer a Gospel analyzing), and finally a Gospel analyzing. The Mass is split into 2 considerable areas, the Liturgy of the be conscious (while the Bible readings are examine), and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. in the process the Liturgy of the Eucharist, portion of the final Supper is recited by way of the priest, Matthew 26:26-28. it relatively is, in accordance to Catholic thought, while the priest consecrates the bread and wine into the Holy Eucharist. throughout a era of three years, the full Bible is examine interior the Mass. Mass is asserted each and every day in each usa of the international. there's a three twelve months scriptural cycle (I forgot the call of this cycle, if any). in case you flow to Mass on a daily basis for 3 yrs quickly, you will possibly have heard the full Bible, old testomony and New testomony. Do Catholics examine the Bible? interior the Mass, definite, each and every day. In inner maximum, many do. It relies upon on the guy. till now Vatican II, Catholics weren't inspired to envision the Bible as much as they're at present. in recent times, definite, Catholics are very plenty inspired to envision the Bible each and every day. genuine! i grow to be a non secular Catholic from 1987 to 2000. Bible analyzing grow to be inspired very plenty.

Dear, according to the Bible, if Jesus tells us to confess our sins to one another ... and gave men the authority on Earth to forgive sins, sending out His disciples to do so ... then why do you have such difficulty understanding that when Catholics confess our sins to a priest, we are simply doing what the Lord said to do?
The priest is not collecting lists of sins and then turning to Jesus and saying "okay, Lord, here are all these sins from my parishioners, would you please forgive them?" That's being a mediator.
If you can accept that the Lord's work on earth is done with our hands, then this shouldn't be too much of a stretch to understand: It is HIM who is forgiving the sins, THROUGH the priest. And it is in no way contradictory to the fact -- with which Catholics agree wholeheartedly, as it's in Scripture -- that Jesus is the one mediator between God and man.

Either one of two things is true:
1. Scripture contradicts Scripture and is therefore not infallible, OR
2. Someone's interpretation of the full counsel of God is wrong.
I am a Baptist, but I can see in the NT where Catholics derive their practice of confessing their sins to their priests. I'm not going to berate them for this practice.

Jesus gave the authority to forgive sins to his Apostles (and consequently to their successors, which includes today's Catholic Bishops and the priests they ordain).
Yes, Catholics pray to God and ask for forgiveness, healing, and strength. Yes, Catholics pray to Jesus asking for mercy, healing, and forgiveness. We should do so everyday.
Catholics are blessed with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Why do you insist on placing a limit on God's mercy and love? You are like the Pharisees who said that Jesus blasphemed because he forgave sins.
