The tried and true method for evening out pigment problems on the skin is cocoa butter. It comes in concentrated form and in lotion form as well. It's best to find a cocoa butter product that has vitamin E in it as well. You should apply it everyday and you should also wear sunscreen everyday to the scrape area for about 6 months. One of the surgeons that I work with said that in the winter time that scrape area should be quite a bit lighter than the surrounding skin if you've been putting on enough sunsreen. Eventually the skin will even out with the rest of your normal skin, but the key to good healing and pigmentation is to keep UV rays off of it.

I hope this helps.
