Airport hotels are some of the cheapest in town because there are so many of them. If you can afford an airline ticket you can afford one of them....The other suggestions while well intentioned are not so hot...trust me the last thing you want to be doing is bathing on the beach in Venice...sheeesch

I answered this question a few months ago, so had the chance to do a little research.

Unfortunately, LAX doesn't have public showering facilities, which many other airports do -- that was going to be my first suggestion to you, but, having done some research, it transpires that there aren't any lounges at LAX anymore where you can pay a small fee to take a shower. (Unless, of course, you're coming in on a flight as a first or business class passenger, in which case you might qualify to use the airline lounge. Although I'm guessing you already knew that.)

Another suggestion (although I'm not sure how this fits into your plans for the rest of your time in LA) is to head out to one of the beaches and use the public shower facilities there. Venice Beach, for example, has showers, as does Santa Monica Beach. I'm not sure how private they'll be -- the ones in Santa Monica are actually outdoors! -- but it could work in a pinch if you REALLY want to clean (and cool!) off.

Another alternative (which was suggested by another answerer when this question was posed last time) is to take the free shuttle van to the nearby Crown Plaza Hotel, where there's a branch of 24-Hour Fitness. Apparently, you can pay $10 for a day pass, which will mean you can use the locker room and showers.

However, are you SURE you don't want to look into getting a room? It might be nice to have a nap and watch some TV.
You might want to skip the ones that, ahem, charge by the hour, but a quick look around will show you that the average Motel 6 in L.A. will run about $47 -- it's up to you whether a shower is worth that much to you!

Good luck, anyway! Hope this helps a little.

I had to get a room once due to a delay because of a terrorist threat. I spent about $100 for a ghetto room outside the airport. It sucked!

You will be there for 14 hours, not long enough to get a room. The airport itself does not have rooms, and there are no showers. I would suggest bringing some books and settling in for a long wait.

There are no hotels or showers in the airport. There are some gyms nearby that you might be able to use.

I work at LAX. There are no showers at the airport. BUT...when you arrive go to a Travelers Aid Booth. There is one in every terminal close to the baggage claim area. They can get you a nice room at a greatly reduced rate. If you have anymore questions just ask me... kingsleydr60@yahoo.com
