The remote was working fine on the tv i could control the tv but its stopped working i tryed to re-pogram it but it changes 1 channel and stops working why?

Maybe it needs fresh batteries?
Maybe you got some new fancy fluorescent lighting in the room? (Try to darken the room and see if it helps).

Make sure the remote is in the correct function for the item you are trying to turn on. Otherwise if you are trying to turn on a TV make sure the remote is in the TV mode. Universal remotes are to operate more than one thing but they can only operate 1 thing at a time so you have to switch the remote for that function. Best remote for the money IMO is the logitech harmony remotes there very user friendly.
