He was in the Navy stationed in Japan around 1944 & 1945. I think he was in Okinawa and went on to Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped.

it will help if you know where he was stationed & any other miscellanious info you have about him... all in all it shouldn't be too hard. each branch of the military keeps archived records of who was where, when, etc.

try starting with what you know, and contact the appropriate admin... i don't know much about the Navy, but i do know that information is in a "CREW LIST"... good luck.

Go to the URL below and use the link that reads "The Navy Log". Use the search function. It should contain the name of your grandfather and (hoping for luck) what ships he was on board. It's the web site of the Navy Memorial and that link contains the entire data base of everyone who served in the Navy.

You can possibly get his military service records with his personnal information. This may be difficult if he is deceased.
