I would use a potato masher or the shredding blade in my food processor. You could even mash them with a fork or slotted spoon if that is all you have.

every recipe I have seen for potato gnocchi says not to use a food mill, but a ricer instead. I have never made it at home yet but I wanting to try soon. Good luck I hope they turn out wonderful!

P.S. to make the little gnocchi "lines" just use the tine of a dinner fork.

By hand, like everyone before 1975.

It's good exercise and builds character. It will also make you make sure that anyone who gets a piece of your food is darn well worth the work.

hi there...you can grate your boiled potatoes on an old fashioned hand grater. use the side with the bigger holes. it has always worked fine for me. good luck and enjoy your gnocci.
