It happened to me on my way to Laughlin. I don't live there, so was shocked at these California border things.

the agricultural Inspections that help to keep harmful insects out of California don't bother me. (You have to do the same thing to enter Arizona too)

Having the agricultural checkpoint is better than having helicopters spraying your yard, car and everything with chemicals to combat the fruit flies! I don't know how productive it is -- they usually just ask you if you have fruit, etc., but don't really check -- but if it does help, it's a small price to pay.

The border check coming from San Diego is almost absurd though since the influx of illegal aliens doesn't really seem to be impacted by the effort. They catch some smugglers and their human cargo, but sometimes only after horrific chases where the smuggler crashes, sometimes injuring innocent travelers.

That said, there's an awful lot of California to visit without ever leaving the state!

Oh boo hoo you have to be stopped for all of our own well being.
Okay you're right, let's do it your way. Everyone can go in and out without any legal responsibility or checking what people are bringing into or out of our state. That would make us all safer and lower our taxes.
Sorry to be so blunt but I'm glad they do it. It's a minor inconvenience for an important reason.

My favorite time this happened was when I was a kid 30 years ago and my family was stopped returning from vacation. We had a cooler full of fruit and my Dad was too cheap to just throw it away so we pulled over and sat there for an hour eating all the fruit.

I hate the agricultural checkpoint on the way back to LA from Las Vegas - they rarely stop cars, they just wave you through, but it causes a huge, unnecessary back-up of traffic on Sundays, when everyone is returning home after the weekend.

Really, it's no big deal. You actually went through the agricultural checkpoint? It always seems to be closed when I go by it. Keeps fruit with nasty medflies out.

What the heck are you talking about? Thats ridiculous. Yes we are stopped once, coming back into California. They check for fruit, vegetables, and illegal's. Simple.

I never get stopped going to and from Nevada, they look at my plates and wave me through. i think they stop mostly out of state vehicles, we dont want people bringing bad bugs and the such into California. I've never been asked about illegal aliens either.
