I'm typing an essay.
Normally,I would just double space myself however,I'm used to single space and it would be hard for me to remember.
I did hear something about a double space option but I don't know if its on Wordpad or another program.
If its on Wordpad, please tell me how to select the double space option.
If not, tell me which program is required to automatically double space.

To double space in Wordpad, do the following:

1) Highlight (select) all of your text. You can do this quickly by pressing CTRL+A

2) Press CTRL+2

This will double space all the text you have already written and continue to double space your work as you type!

If you want to revert back to single line spacing, select all the text and then press CTRL + 1

This is something that Ser3nity has correct.

Even though there is no menu option to format line spacing in Wordpad, the Ctrl+2 does make double spacing.

Ctrl+5 will do 1.5 line spacing as well.

Same as in MS Word.

No.
Word and most other word processors have a simple Format Paragraph, line spacing option that can be applied to any or all of the document. WordPad is one step up from text only Notepad.
