My dog gets jelous of my 8 year old. He gets jelous of my tv watching and many things. I brought the baby home, and he stood back and wathced us all for one day. And since the second day home he realized the baby is a 'people' and he will lay with him on the bed like he does with us. He will lick him like he does to us. BUT he never gets jelous of the baby, like he does with older kids (he is great with kids, but want me all to himself)... but he is ok with sharing me with the baby. Why???

you have let him become the parent in his own way....which is good because he has formed a bond with the child....ya gotta think dogs are just like children.....my pitty loves my 3 yr old to death but my 11yr old she is ok with where my younger daughter was raised wih her seince we brought her home from the hospital i never put a barier between them....thats why he/she is not jealous of you baby....the dog is one of the parens too.....which is good....they will always be there for your child....

I'll BET your dog is younger- than your 8 year old, right?-And he's had alot of not so wonderfull "experiences" with him- along the way... Your Dog was "aware" of the Babys coming- LONG before it arrived- so he's had plenty of time to get "used to it" (It's believed that dogs can actually "hear" a baby moving inside a woman's body- at about the time she begins to feel it!!!). By watching YOUR reactions to the Newborn- & the Sounds it makes, He's made the "association" that IT- is an extension- of YOU ! So if he loves YOU, then the Baby should be treated the same way. Pretty cool- huh?! :)

Well, it seems that your dog views you and your baby as alphas (pack leaders) and views your other kids as lower pack members.

He gets "jealous" of them because the pack leader is paying attention to them when by pack order HE is above THEM.

As in the nature of pack animals, your infant is elevated to your status in the pack because of its dependence on you,
and your dog knows better than to challenge that.

Wanting you "all to himself" is just his way of seeking the alpha's approval.

Good Doggie.

Your dogs is definately performing out. are you able to dam out even slightly time to spend with merely your dogs on a daily basis? pass out to the returned backyard and play along with her, decide for a walk, groom her. If she includes comprehend that she nonetheless has a place of fee on your existence from known, consistent interest, the "injuries" could end. i do no longer think of that scolding her for her "injuries" could help, because of the fact even even with the shown fact that it is damaging reinforcement from you, it continues to be interest. perhaps it somewhat is her element? desire that helps!

he is probably jealous because you carry and nurture the baby and he feels ignored.
