If Cpl Hitler has died in ww 1 there still would have been a war with Germany - Great Britian would still have dismantled the Kaiser and gave Germany the bill for world war one
WW 2 came out of the economic depresion in Europe
Hitler interfered with his generals a better Chancelor might have won by letting the Generals do thier jobs more freely
The again very few could have been so efficient as Hitler was at cancelling the debt and taking the power to value money into the office of the Chancelor - So with Hitler out of the equation it may have been near impossible for Germany to build to the level it did by 1939 when the British Empire declared war

The game: "Command and Conquer; Red Alert" delves into that theory. In the game, Hitler is assassinated before his rise to power. Because of this the USSR grows unchecked (not heavily defending their home front in a war, so they can develop more offensive weapons) and Stalin decides to invade the rest of Europe to spead communism. Essentially the Cold War gets hot, Soviet tanks rumbling across Europe. Full scale war.
Now, I don't know if that would have happened, but anything's possible and it seems fairly feasible. If that did happen, then the world's political lines probably would be very different, and possibly some of the ground could be glowing green at night...

Or if he had gotten into art college
There would have been someone else. Hitler was not responsible all on his own for the rise of fascism.
The victors of world war one had an inadvertent major role in it by making the German working classes bitter and resentfull by the harsh conditions of the surrender, creating the perfect climate for a vicious nationalist party to rapidly grow in power

Some one with a different name would have rode the tide of history to leadership in a Germany that wanted revenge for the terms that ended world war one.

Shall I take the politician's position and say "I won't answer a hypothetical?
If it wasn't Hitler, it would have been some OTHER tyrant that took the lead in fomenting such evil violence based on ignorance and superstition.
Look around! It is happening again!
Check out the Middle East.
There is no shortage of tyrants looking to take the lead in evil violence based on superstition, ignorance, and false information. They are educating their followers to HATE for no reason, while distorting morals to give justification to MURDER. They are EVIL!
Hitler was a piker compared to what is facing mankind NOW.
