This day and age, a lot of teens are not mature enough to be left in charge...I would say 16 at the earliest....I know a 13 year old that really is not responsible enough to attend children of any age. I even have known some at 16 that were not mature enough either to handle situations regarding babysitting.

You legally have to be 12, in my state I think at least(Colorado). You can babysit if you took the red cross coarse for baby sitting at 11 years old

I believe it would depend on the maturity of the child. Neighbors had asked my daughter to babysit ~ and I didn't think she was up to the responsibility. Generally I look for a sitter around 14-15 years old and prefer one with CPR training.

Back in the day, I was 11 when I first started...just a few day time/ early evening hours. Late into the night? Maybe 14/15.

13 or 14. Cause isn't that an old enough age for you to be staying home alone?
