thank you so much vera. we're on the same page. the black and gray shading sounds like it could be really neat. i really dont think ive ever seen that before.

fyi to everyone else: im not going to get it done in color just because people tell me that they like it in color. i just want YOUR opinions. like i said, as of right now, i like the black a lot, but who knows? by the time i get it, i may change my mind as i am not planning on getting it any time soon. i already have a few others planned that will surely come first. so please, don't be rude, just give me your opinions.

I REALLY love it in black! You could always do some nice black/gray shading if you want some variation. I think that would add some nice contrast to it. Just an awesome tattoo by the way!

Really depends on the artist, his/her skill, and the artwork.Bigger tattoos usually work out better in instances like these. a tiny pink butterfly with no outline would probably end up looking like a scar or birthmark. a black or grey line will help in defining the lines making it more easilly readable. Outstanding results can be achieved if it's properly done and the artist knows their color theory.. ie. how, when, & where to use warm and cool colors, what colors contrast and go well with each other. Poor color choice would result in an unreabable blob of color. Your best bet is to look for an artist who specializes in color portrait / realism work... not cheap. best of luck

The black seems a little too dark to me.

Have you thought about filling the symbols in the circles instead of filling in the circles? (so the symbol is black and the circle background is uncolored) Just a thought.

Cool image though!

i would definitely not get black, it's so "tribal" looking and solid black doesn't look very solid all the time and often needs many many touchups in order to look right. but it it your body and you should be happy with what you have. that's not really a style of tattoo i'd get anyway but if i were going to get it, it'd be in color.

the most important thing to do is to research tattoo artists and find the right one for you, one who is talented and competent. not all tattooers are talented and they certainly aren't all artists.

Please don't let anyone decide for you. Each person has there own ideas of what looks good and what don't. You are the one getting it and you are the one that has to wear it for the rest of your life. If you like it one way and not the other its what makes you happy. And yes it does have alot of meaning to it. I apologize I didn't mean to offend you but rather make other people aware of their choices. I'm sorry.
