I'm Christian, believe God exists.. is masturbation a sin? This is a really troubling discussion for almost every teen that believes in HIM, I believe. I'm a 13 year old girl. Okay, I started "playing" with a bear of mine when I was maybe 6? Let me skip some details. Anyway, is masturbation a sin? First off, atheist answers WILL NOT help me. I'd prefer someone who struggled with this. Nor do I need to know if it's HEALTHY or not, I know it is healthy. Is it a SIN, according to Jesus's law, or not? The Onan story does not refer to masturbation, so that won't count for me either. Why is it a sin, if it is, and will I really go to hell for masturbating? I'm not technically "spilling seed" since I'm female. Or does God intend for us to only be sexual with our spouses present? Is it possible to masturbate without thinking images, which is technically impossible (I've tried)? Is it lust? Iff we are married, can we masturbate and think of our spouse, or is masturbation OFF LIMITS completely?

And is is true we can't have sex except to procreate? I of course won't follow that rule when I marry.. but someone told me when you get married you only have sex to try for offspring..Does God say we can't enjoy ourselves without the intention of making babies? Also, why did God give boys wet dreams, if it makes them curious = leading to masturbation AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIFE! I am so confused. I LOVE masturbating, I just can't shake the guilt.. I try to stop but.. It's something I like to do. I wish I had a direct saying saying this was wrong..I've promised to stop on and off, but I can't commit. Will a believer PLEASE help me out with all my inquiries!! THANKS.

I have come to the conclusion that I may not know ALL the answers to God's intentions but I will stop this. I forgot to say whenever I do pleasure myself, I always end up singing Christian songs after it, it's AUTOMATIC.. it's God trying to tell me I'm wrong. Masturbation is wrong, and it's just another temptation to do outside of a good, Christian union of spouses. I will pray he helps me through this thing called PUBERTY! I am still not sure about the marriage and masturbating to your spouse, but as for now, I'm not getting married or having sex anytime soon, not at 13! I will follow the word of God! Thanks for your help!

Yes it is a sin. The church says that it is a really grave sin. i have struggled through this too. They say that since it can not result in new life it is wrong. It is sacred because sex can result in life. So It is off limits completely for christian. Even if you do it without seeing images. I don't think you will go to hell for it though. I believe it is classified as commiting adultery
Here is what one pope said about it. "- masturbation is an intrinsically and seriously disordered act...the deliberate use of the sexual faculty outside normal conjugal relations essentially contradicts the finality of the faculty. For it lacks the sexual relationship called for by the moral order, namely the relationship which realizes 'the full sense of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love.' All deliberate exercise of sexuality must be reserved to this regular relationship"

The Catholic church sure has a way with messing up a persons conscious. I went through much the same as you except I was alone with my conscious, it was awful , wondering if I should confess or not the embarrassment,I never want to go back there. I am sure I gave some bad thoughts to a priest. I do not think God cares,I do not think it is a sin. It is a health out let for you, until you are ready for the responsibility of a relationship. Now, to have sex and not be able to take on the consequence (baby) because each time you have intercourse you could potentially become pregnant, that is a sin. BTW everyone masturbates at one point their lives.

Is it a sin or not? I don't know for sure. I do know that for guys sexual tension builds up and there must be a release. The Bible never mentions masturbation, and that whole spilling seeds thing is non-sense. Sex is not only for procreation, it is also for pleasure and for the enjoyment between the husband and wife. I know that for me, it is possible to masturbate without imagining another woman or fantasizing. If you lust after another woman, or in your case, another man. It is a sin. If you view porn it is also a sin. But if you can masturbate without lusting I don't see how it is a sin. Unless the Holy Spirit convicts you when you masturbate I don't see how it is wrong. And if there is a wife who can't see her husband for a long time, I don't see what is wrong with masturbating and thinking of her husband. Im actually struggling with this too (im 15). Just keep asking God about it and He will answer you. I want to quit but It's really hard.

This is a difficult topic to tackle, as I'm sure you well know. What I will say is this: the Bible says keep your mind pure. If you can masturbate and keep your mind pure, then okay. The Bible never comes right out and condemns or condones it (unfortunately), but it does say keep your mind pure and think on pure, holy, just, righteous, etc. things.
Also, sex does not have to be just for pro-creation in marriage. As long as it is in marriage, you can do it all you want.

There is nothing in the Bible to encourage or condemn regarding masturbation. However, it does speak regarding your thought life and to take all thoughts "captive".
No. The purpose of sex is to become one with your spouse. Such a union produces life and joy, yes. But its primary purpose is to create the union between a husband and wife.

Masturbation is caused by a demon spirit that inhabits you. When the demon spirit is gone, it cannot manifest it's desire in you anymore. To get it out, you'll need to fill yourself with God's word, study the word of God to strengthen yourself. This will also make the demon want to leave you. Get yourself prayed over by a minister, preferably a lady minister, who has a God-given-gift to pray for your deliverance. You may have to be prayed over numerous times to get complete deliverance. Maybe not. Anyway, you'll know when it leaves you, for good. But, when you get to the point that you just can't be that way anymore, it will leave you, whether you have someone to pray over you or not. You could be all alone with no one around when it happens. I do not believe you will go to hell because of this. These demons are usually very, very persistant and will not want to leave you. It got into you at a time when you were very vulnerable and helpless. Possibly when you were deeply and emotionally hurt, at some point in your life. Demons don't play fair! They take advantage of you and prey on you when you are the most defenseless. So, when something hurtful happens to you, by someone you loved and trusted, turn to God and ask Him to help you not to be bitter, etc. cause that is when the demon spirits can get into you.

Yes, it's a sin, according to the constant, 2,000-year-old tradition of the Catholic Church. This means it was taught by the Apostles and handed down by their successors. If you don't find it explicitly condemned in the Bible, this may be because it was so obvious to people that they didn't feel the need to write about it. It's a serious sin because it's an indulgence of lust, and separating lust from its natural purpose. It's comparable to eating food to enjoy its taste, and then forcing yourself to throw up the food so you can't digest it.

I'm sure I'm not the right one one to answer this question; But I will always be confused by how anything pleasurable that causes no harm to anyone, physical, emotional or otherwise, could be considered a sin.
If I've helped you, that's a bonus.

Masturbation is a gateway sin--a "slippery slope" (if you will) to even worse things. First one finger, then two, maybe another one in the kiester...then before you know it you get drunk, pass out, then wake up to find yourself doing a DVDA with the basketball team.
Stay away from your bear!!! You're one step away from committing bestiality. In fact--what's the bear made of? If it's organic, then you're committing bestiality AND necrophilia all at once. For shame.
And who do you think about during these orgies of self-pleasure? Jesus...?! I don't think so!! No, it's probably the lead singer of some boy band. Which means you're committing fornication in your heart (unless you marry the guy).

I believe its a sin in not doing it! After all the human body is what it is! Just do not do it to exhaustion!.. there is a physical and mental health issue to be considered!
Religious dogmas will just confuse the issue and makes you unnecessarily guilty.
