Why do so many people question others' beliefs, when surely we would be better off questioning our own?

Not only would we become more secure in our beliefs, we would also develop an understanding for members of other religions.

I don't see anything negative about that.

I see PLENTY negative with everyone firing off insults and generally being closed minded.

Think about it.

Then tell me, if (insert your religion here) teaches love, why is there not a great big amount going round in here?

non-religious people may not follow a religion, but that does not mean they have no morals. They would certainly be more loving towards the religious if the religious were more loving to them.

I want to extend my love to everyone who reads and answers this question, along with this:

((((hugs))))

To add to ourselves, we must subtract hate and multiply our love. Hopefully we can then stay undivided.

And for the bear guy:

Yup you describe this bunny very well. I'll gladly be an @sswipe if it helps those less fortunate.

When I was a catholic, I was told that I asked too many questions, I becam a Lutheran and was told I ask too man questions, I explored Islam and was told I ask too many questions. I found Wicca and when I asked questions, they showed me books and asked me if I had any questions, they showed me more books and asked if I had any questions, they showed me more books and asked me if I had any questions. the more questions I came up with the more they asked me for my questions. NOW I ask MY students if they have any Questions and I've been a Wiccan Priest for more than 35 years. I love it and I love you ALL. Any questions?

Brightest blessings,

first:
((((hugs)))) rightbackatcha

secondly
I am not a Christian nor an athiest

I am mostly what is called gnostic or Cristine
but raised as catholic in a very rural environment where church was natural part of our culture but we didnt have fire and brimstone priests
our priest was more of a very dedicated servant to our community

But
I have worked (counseling) with quite a few that were very damaged by religion and the religious although yes drugs were involved in many of the cases but not all

It is my belief
that if indeed there is some kind of reckoning either judgement or karma
there are a lot of people that have been involved in religion that are going to have an awful lot to answer for

I am not just talking about those involved in such as the Inquisitions torturing bodies..
Mental destruction of innocent minds
and the doling out of guilt to people exploring life in my opinion makes it such that a I think lot of peoples heads should be chopped off and fed to the fishes just for the betterment of mankind

"if (insert your religion here) teaches love, why is there not a great big amount going round in here?" - This is definately not the norm for the "real world".

My pastor leads us to question ourselves, our beliefs, and all other beliefs. He does it in a very courteous manner; he and a bunch of religious leaders from the community meet once a week for prayer and talk. He then reports back to us anything interesting he's learned. He encourages us to do the same.

That's what I love about R&S many Athiests and even Christians have asked good questions which have had me study my own beliefs . It has served to make me stronger in my faith as well as more knowageble . I try very hard not to insult people even those that would insult me or my beliefs.
As with all people christian or not we all think we are right and you are wrong but after the shock of finding R&S and the questions asked I have come to respect the views of others better than I did before.
I too wish Godly love to all belivers or not.

So a bear and a bunny are in the forest talking. The bear asked the bunny: "Do you ever have a problem with shyte sticking to your fur?"

"No!", replied the bunny, while snickering at the bear.

So the bear picked up the bunny and wiped himself with it.

What is the point of this story?? Well, just goes to show - if you open your eyes and mind a little, you might get a better understanding of what youre asked.

(((Holy Bunny Rabbit)))

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I ask people of other religions for clarification on their beliefs, but most of the time, I'm exploring my own. That's why I'm here actually: To learn about my religion, and how other people perceive it.

To tell the truth, thanks to the atheists on here, my faith has grown by leaps and bounds! I don't think that's what's SUPPOSED to happen, but it still has, lol.

I'm a Christian.

I'm an atheist and my beliefs are questioned every time I come here. That's okay. All beliefs should be questioned. A worthwhile belief should stand up to questioning.

Only questioning your own beliefs or only questioning those of others are both sort of pointless. You have to see how your beliefs stack up against other perspectives, and vice versa, in order to really refine your ideology. And if you see blatant errors of logic in your beliefs or those of others, I think we have an intellectual obligation discard them.

OK (brought up in the christian faith) I beg to differ there is quite a bit of love to be found in YA you just have to look for it and be able to recognise it(not always easy).
