Honestly they are harder to maintain when your hair is shorter, from what I've seen. As your hair grows you need to brush it more often and wear your du-rag more consistently so that the curls stay trained. If it gets too long they'll just curl, and if it gets too dry they'll just frizz...so keep the Dax/Murrays on and keep brushing, brushing, brushing...you can never brush too much.

I have wavy hair, and use this matrix stuff that helps to curl your hair and maintain frizz. (t is called like curl life by matrix)
