You only get one life..Then people like Owen Smith who just tried to commit suicide, Elvis Presley, Princess Diana (UNHAPPY),scores of more people who have everything, Love, Money, Family Friends are STILL not happy...
In this world of materialism more people are unhappy looking for fullfillment in anti-depressants,alcohol, drugs, loveless sexual relationships....
WHY IS THAT?
JESUS CHRIST said If you value your life and posessions more than GOD you will surely lose them, and you all know you are
going to lose your physical life and all your material posessions...

SO what eternal promise do you have in this life???
With GOD you have a eternal promise you will never lose.

You think that is the key to happiness? I've seen some pretty unhappy christians in my time, downright miserable.

I'm happy because I don't focus on the material aspects of life - I know money does not buy happiness. Happiness comes from the love in your life not the dollar signs and I don't need a religion that elevated a long dead human being to a 'divine' status to know that.

Christians suffer from depression and loveless relationships in no lesser quantity than anyone else. There is nothing hopeless or depressing about the view, held by many atheists, that this is our one and only life and it's up to US (not loading responsibility onto anyone else) to make it matter. It is very empowering.

And personally I have no need for an eternal promise about anything. Being alive is a breathtaking privilege I marvel at every precious day. It will end. So I'd better make it matter.

I wish, C&C, you could use your imagination just a little and see that other people are not simply blind to what you can see, we can hear you perfectly clearly but we don't agree with you. We usually refer to people who cannot understand why we don't think they're right as "arrogant". I really, really don't want eternal life. I won't life my life as if such nonsense is important to me when it's not. Believe if you want - but by not respecting anyone else you cannot expect respect in return. It's not because you're Christian, it's because of the way you press your christianity. I wish you'd give it a rest. Be happy for yourself. Leave the rest of us to be happy too.

Hate to say it princess, but I know a LOT of Christians that are unhappy...nearly everyone in this miserable little world is materialistic...even Christians *gasp* Anyways though...I'm quite happy in this life...and I'm an Atheist, I might be a little materialistic, but not as some people (...why do Christians need to put money in a little bowl every Sunday?) Hope I helped.

If you look to others for fulfillment,
you will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money,
you will never be happy with yourself.

Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.

Given that God is really Dog, and my dog offers unconditional love, I am pretty much happy.
