When i was in highschool I considered Christian nerds, but in college I dont fear what people think of me.

It's easy too get caught up into the world, you can really see then who stands, for christ and him crucified. Are they saved? Maybe, we are not the judge of that. But, are they producing good fruit or bad? Judge that.

Romans - 2: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the FLESH, but after the SPIRIT.

5: For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Romans - 17: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

18: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When you stand by the cross of christ, be ready to stand alone with the Savior. The world, even most Christians won't accept it.

Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Because either their salvation isn't real (not saying it isn't) or maybe they need to make some changes in their life. Sometimes when we go to church we know how we're supposed to act so that's how we act. Then when we leave that environment we change with the environment. We all fall sometimes, but when it becomes a habit then changes need to be made in our lives. Maybe you should try confronting them about it. Not a easy thing to do, but sometimes it needs to be done. I've been in your position many times and i know how it feels. Just hang in there.

Could be any of three reasons (or any combination).
1. They are afraid if they openly declare their beliefs, they will be ridiculed in the secular setting. Peer pressure is a strong temptation.
2. They are not mature in their faith.
3. They are not true Christians.

Context. People react based on how they are expected to react, and the different expectations affect the person. Your 'self' is very fluid in different situations. You probably act different in school, at home, at church, in the shower, at a baseball game...there's nothing wrong with it, you're just seeing how context affects a person.

The same reason why you act different in front of your friends then you do when you are with dear granny.

Years ago, a weekly TV show with a table of preachers answering questions. One question I still remember is "Why are preacher's kids so rotten?" The answer can back quickly. "Because they are trying to keep up with the deacons."

It takes a special kind of person to just be themselves.
Hardly anyone actually does it.
