ok i heard that from some other people..

ok another term. i want a cheese burger without cheese.. how do u use that?

People use phrases such as this when they want to illustrate how nonsensical someone is. I've heard the phrase this way.

I don't understand you at all. It's like saying, "I'll have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Hold the peanut butter and the bread."


I think I remember Steve Martin, the actor, comedian and writer, delivering this line but I haven't been able to source it.

Here's a quote from him along these same lines:

“Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.”

I wouldn't use that term...it's confusing and makes no sense!
are you wanting to say something similar to
"You can't have your cake and eat it too" ?
