If it is a domestic (pet) duck, take it to a veterinarian. If it is a wild duck, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. You can find one here: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm

These people have the specialized training to care for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals. They also have the state and federal licenses required in order to keep wild animals, even for a short time, until they are healthy enough to be released.

I don't know why you assume it needs to be killed just because it is injured. Many injured animals can be treated, and recover nicely. If it is injured too badly to attempt treatment, the vet or the rehabber will see to it that it is humanely put down. You are correct, killing it yourself would be illegal. If it is a pet, it would be animal cruelty. If it is a wild duck, it is protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Let the professionals take care of it.

DO NOT call animal control or a vet. They will just euthanize the bird. Call a wildlife rehab in your area. They can at least check the duck to see if it's injuries can be repaired and may be able to release it back into the wild if at all possible. Look here for one near you.

If it is a wild duck, it is federally protected and you need to call Animal Control or you may get into serious trouble. If it's a domestic, call the vet. They will handle it.

...I'm not sure where you live... but I'm sure there is a Fish and Wildlife Comm. in the Yellow Pages or Government section of the Yellow pages... Call the police on a non-emerg line and ask the dispatcher if they can refer you to some agency that will help...

You should call the wild animal preservation.. if you can't find the phone number, call a vet or animal control to ask for the number to the preservation.

You need to call animal rescue and look them up online for your area. Try to find one that helps them and doesn't just lay them down. Good luck and plz help the duck!!!

there should be a wild life rehabilitation center around your area. or call or take it to the vet. you wont have to pay just say you found it and dont know where to take it. they would also know the number for the rehabilitation center in your area. I found an injured baby opossum once and took it to the vet which directed me on where to go. the rehabilitation center will take it for free

Duck is delicious. If you search for "how to clean a duck" you'll get some great tips. One thing my grandma used to do was to pluck 'em alive so they stay fresh. Be sure to band their beak if you do.
