ok so i have been having this problem for a few years now but it happens like 10 times per year maybe 20 not sure but when it happens , it happens frequently. The problem is tht sometimes I wake up I can't move and I start breathing hard, I get pretty freaked out and try to move but i cant. Also my eyes automatically start closing and i feel as if im gonna faint or die.... so i get super freaked and resist so much and I always get out of it after a while... and when I snap out of it, I get up and take a huge breath as if I held my breath for a minute and my heart is also beating very fast when it happens. Once i was trying to resist so much but i wouldnt snap out of it and finally 90% of my eyes closed and i was so scared and i tried to resist and resist and it got worse and finally for the first time something unusual happened, i felt like air was escaping from my ears and i heard a noise, my brain felt weird as if it overloaded, why does this happen? its freaky.... thnx for your help

Hey there,
I know EXACTLY how you feel! I experience this at least once a month and at first i was sh*t scared i was dying! I thought i wouldn't wake up or that i would be paralysed or that it was a ghost. I started typing in symptoms - like you mentioned in your answerer - into google. I came to the conclusion that is a thing called 'Sleep Paralysis'. It is NOT harmful and you wont die from it - i have researched this A LOT and from what i have found, you cannot die. I know its scary when you dont have a clue whats happening, but now there is a name for it - hopefully you can relax a little =]
Here are some links to get you started and hopefully make you feel a little bit more at ease:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/S_P2.html
http://www.wikihow.com/Cope-With-Sleep-Paralysis
http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html
I hope this helps at least a little =]
(I want to add here that because of some of the replies - if i was this person who psoted this i would be VERY scared right now! I think people have jumped right to the worst things, without stepping back and actually THINKING about their reply. To the poster of this topic - please dont go running out now to the hospital - its not needed. Whatr you may ahve is very normal and very common - and it connot harm you. It may feel like it goes on forever, but infact its only a few minutes.)
Sure if this sounds like this insnt you, maybe get it checked ouy. But i have been to three doctors and they all came to the same conclusion - sleep paralysis.

You need to see a Neurologist and get an MRI of your brain and cervical spine. You could have a herniated disc in your neck that is compressing your spinal cord, or what is called a Chiari Malformation, which compresses the brain stem.
Other possibilities could be severe sleep apnea (where you stop breathing when you sleep, usually due to obesity or excess tissue in the soft pallet), or you could have some kind of wierd panic disorder.
What ever it is, see your Doctor and explain the symptoms, just as you did here.

Sweet_Slither beat me to the punch on this one. The only thing I can add is that many of the people reporting alien abductions from their bed have been found to suffer from the condition. Actually we all, at least I think we all, have it. The thing is most of use come out of the paralysis before we are fully awake.
It is a scary thing but it is not dangerous according to all I have read and heard about it.

as soon as you are capable of moving, GO TO A DOCTOR! you gave us some really weird symptoms, but the only one who is going to be able to figure out exactly what is wrong with you is a doctor who can look at you in person.

This seems kind of serious and you should really talk to your doctor about this. There is some kind of sleep paralyis so, you should probably research about that.
