I personally own 3 adults and am selling puppies, and I adore all of them. If I could keep the pups I would. They are a beautiful breed and its unfortunate that they have such a bad rep. I was raised around them and have 3 daughters who are being raised around them and love to play and ride our dogs. I just think its sad the way people have to fear them because of all the a$$holes out there that mistreat, misuse, abuse, and fight them. Anyways, I am kinda fed up with all the bad news that you hear about them and just wanted some other positive opinions that may still be out there!

GREAT breed suffering an even greater injustice by the media and idiots. I had a rescued fighter and despite what she went through she was the sweetest and smartest dog I've ever owned. Never had to raise my voice at her. EVER. What happened to the days when they were the all american dog? they were used in commercials, dressed up for parades and pictured on posters throughout the 50's. I wish people would do their research and discover how wonderful they really are.

note to the public :pitbulls only make up 1.8% of the nations dog attacks. Guess who ranks in the top 3?! Golden Retriever, Black Lab, and Cocker Spaniel. So you can throw out the notion that these "all-american family dogs" are in any way superior to a pitbull! They are only considered good fighting dogs because despite a broken leg or ripped face they will still go into the ring if their master wishes it, the dog is only the loyal one. No such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner.

I love pit bulls and did own one but had to give her away because I moved into a much smaller home.
Some people are afraid of them because of the ones that are used for fighting and the ones that are very aggressive.
But what they don't understand is that they are not born that way. They become aggressive because of the way they have been treated .I think if someone would hit a person on a hourly base they would become mad and would want to fight back ,same with animals. My Pit bull was sweet and even loved the smaller animals ,played with the ferrets and cats, loved little kids . Therefore I have to say I love Pit Bulls.

I believe the same way about pits as i believe about all dogs. A dog is a precious life, that will return all of the love, loyalty, and friendship that humans put into raising them. And i believe that not only pits, but all dogs need to only be with someone who has the time and responsibility to devote to raising them. And should only be raised by someone seeking friendship, not glory, money, or anything else dogfighting has to offer.

I adore pitts but they do have a temper, a sudden one. Which is why it so astonishes people (who own and love them) when one of their babies turns on another animal or a person. Pitts are 99 percent love and 1 percent attitude. That one percent, combined with their jaw power, is what distinguishes them in a negative light.

Chows, Chihuahuas, mini poodles, and a few other breeds also have that one percent (or more) or temper/ attitude, but they lack the equipment to do any real or sudden damage.

I love pitts. But, I wouldn't have one as a pet. Too heartbreaking when something does go wrong.

It just takes the wrong owner, like an unsupervised teenage boy or some grown man with a chip on his shoulder, or some ignorant people who believe dogs should be their protectors and guards instead of pets, to inspire that one percent of attitude in a pitt to blossom into bloodshed.

King TootinCommonSen is a perfect example of an ignorant asshole. obviously he doesn't know that pits were originally a hunting dog, then a working dog (usually for butchers holding down cattle) the reason they were used for fighting had to do with their strength and their drive to please their owners, they fought because they were told, because a human told them they were a good dog when they fought, not because they wanted to.

I wonder if he'll ever figure out which end of the leash the dangerous animal is really on.

i admit i would probably not own one but my youngest brother had one her name was Maggie and she was a really sweet dog! i was afraid because of their reputation but honestly i would be very leery of other dogs too, especially around children.German Shepherds or Rottweilers as well.i feel bad for those dogs involved in the dog fighting ring but i would be very leery to allow most of them to live.it is a sad fact but most of these dogs must be put down because there is too high of a risk for them to harm people or other animals.i think if they are raised with love and kindness they are good pets.but when they are turned into fighting machines and killers that's also what they are! good luck with your puppies!

pitts just really get a very bad reputaition because stupid people use them for dog fighting arenas and then when they get loose since all they know is to attack they hurt someone and thats all the public sees they dont see dogs like yours that can be around kids and not have any worries! i think its wrong that there putting bans on pittbulls

It isn't the breed that's bad, it's the people that use and abuse.
Our daughter and son-in-law have a mix. She is a lovely, smart dog. She thinks she's people - good people at that.

i know it is NOT the breed it is the ones allowed to own pits. most of the time the angry pits have the same personality of the owner. i owned a pit when i was young and loved her and she love me. now i have boxers and they also take on the personality of the owner. that mean some can be aggressive and other very shy. it is all in the owners!!!!!!!!!!!!
